Dunno how you guys and gals think about it but I have already spend about 3600
Euros (about nearly 4000 Dollars) for my Collection!
In other words for me Animes and Mangas are a very expensive hobby but I still
do not want to live without them!^^
Do you think that your hobby is expensive,too or do you take it nice and easy
and don´t "waste" your money for other stuff?

i just know that months in months out, i have my 10-something comics and 1-2
mangas to buy
but well, i guess after writing that yes, it's expensive but well, i can afford

If you keep it all in perspective (since most people only have a few main
hobbies) then your collection isn't unreasonable. To an outsider that might
think of it as "just some dvds to watch," 3600 Euros may seem a little
extreme but they don't realize anime is something you may spend a few hours a
day on. For me racing motorcycles is a very very expensive hobby compared to
anime but really I spend a lot more time with my anime hobby. I think as long as
you really enjoy it then spending your extra money on anime/manga is awesome.
I only buy the stuff I truly want, which means a lot gets left behind. It wasn't
always this way, but now that the market is so saturated with anime it can't be
helped. I'm just glad I have managed to complete my largest part of the
collection with the Urusei Yatsura series. It shall never trouble me again now
that I have it all Muhahhhahaha! 8D
Whoops. Sorry, I get carried away where that series is concerned. However take
this little bit of comfort. Once you have it, it's yours as long as you can keep
it undamaged, unlike drugs which are all gone once you've consumed them. So in
the long term anime IS cheaper than crack.
I can't even imagine how much I have spended on anime and manga
already.
Most expensive stuff in my collections are probably the figures and art books. I
also have a lot of mangas...but lucky they are all in Chinese and is much
cheaper than the English version. I also have a limited editition of Ah My
Goddess Movie DVD. That thing costed me quite a bit.
Some of collections are quite rare though. I am pretty proud of it.

I have have spend about 500-600 euro on Doujinshis art, Cllection art books,
some dolls (Full Metal Alchemist) and some book How to draw manGa! Well about
the anime Series I have spend so much money that i don't know how much of them..
I like seeing them on DiVx mode so I dowload them from net Cafes! ! ! In one
year i finally downloaded about 50 series (Completed) ! Well The money I spend :
6 hours per day x 2 euro per hour , 1 year has 360 days hmmmmmmmmm ! Total=4320
euro ! + 500-600 Euro FinalTotal=4870 euros!
I spent around $1000 for my anime, Excluding manga, figurines, posters and other
merchendise :P But I reckon it was worth it cuz its part of my hobby hehe

So yeah its a rather expensive hobby but not as expensive as my other hobby
which is gadgets and computers.
I probably depends on the period of time and where you spent it. I've been
collecting anime for about 9yrs now and I've spent about $10,000 on my anime
collection. However the MSRP value is a great deal higher due to using discount
sites whenever possible. I restrict myself to a certain amount every month that
I can spend (it varies depending on income that month) and then go buy what I
want.
Keep it in budget and you should have no problems
I'm not sure..I thing I spend for my manga collection so ca. 500 Euro..can be
more than that

If I want to see animes I watch the TV (something like Animenights on VOX)

another external hard drive for the fansubs on my computer...that'll add another
100-200....yes very expensive, I make deep cuts for my college tuition and my

I been buying anime goods for over 10 years. I have gotton used to the prices
for mangas, artbooks, dvds and other collectables where nowadays, its not really
considered expensive for me, especially if I buy them at a discount. I recall
most mangas which were mostly from Viz Comics, were $14.95 a book! Now, that was
expensive in my point of view!

or so. Really nice selection of DVDs, art books, manga and soundtracks.
Although I should try a save a bit more (for my dream computer! )
it's a lot harder to do in reality - cutting down on my spending. I can afford
it and I don't regret a single purchase so I'm fine with how much I

The more anime and manga becomes commonplace, the cheaper it all gets and the
more it gets televised. The more profit it shows, the quicker it becomes
commonplace. So, your efforts now are saving you money later... theoretically.
Personally, I try to download almost everything that sounds interesting to me
while it's still unlicensed, then back it up on DVDs. Fansubs often have better
translations than the 'official' subtitles, ironically. And the OP and ED
karaokes are always better, hands down. Anyway, if I really love a show, I'll
buy the american release to show my support. And posters, art books, etc.

100 manga and each book is like 10-15 dollars and i also have like 22 anime
movies and each one of those costed like 10-40 dollars depending on if its a dvd
set or not so yeah i think its becoming expensive

i think i end up spending more on video games and things than on anime and

out. but when the xbox 360 came out i definately spent more on that.

Yes anime and manga are expensive especially for poor students, but like so many others said
I just can't let my hands of it. So I will be going to buy and buy and buy things i didn't have to
get them. For your own personal health you shouldn't count how much you spend on your
hobbies cause the most are worth it
but I did count the money I spent its only 1000 Euro and a view left behinds but with my
books there are 5000grant in my appartment .

I basically download anime, only the fansubs, and manga I read online, like Death Note.

Anime: 240$ + 80$ shipping
Manga: (12 + 8 + 8 + 4 + 7) x7.89$ + tax
so yeah, i spend a lot on manga. not as much as others but a lot.
