I just got a gateway 2000 computer and when I turn it on it reads all the hardware fine but then it says "2F8h COM address conflict". It does say to hit f2 to go to setup but it doesn't respond or anything, so I have no idea what's going on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

2F8H is a IRQ address. Your system has a confilt with one of your hardware devices.
Inside the BIOS find COM2 and either disable it or set it to auto.
After that exit and save your settings.

The most common device to use COM2 is the modem.

Another way is to go to device manager remove your conflicted device and communication port (COM2).

Restart and let it redetect and the system shold reassign a new COM port
for that device.

The conflict device should have a exclamation point or a question mark.

BIOS is not something that you should be playing around with so therfore don't change any other settings.
