Was anyone as dissappointed with the movie version of Memoirs of a Geisha? I loved the book and when I heard the movie was coming out, I decidied that it was my duty to go and see it.
However, upon viewing the movie, a few things bugged me. Fisrt of all, it's supposed to be about japanese people and yet they cast chinese actors. Secondly, it was filmed in china and an american studio, not one shot of it was done in japan- and it shows. then there was the fact that it was done in english?!
I do commend the cast though, they did an incredible job dispite the fact that they were asked to portray a culture that was not their own and spend endless hours learning all the customs and dances.
But all in all, I say: Memoirs of a Geisha = Nay.
