Hi there, this thread is on any consequences that being a manga fan has on you. That means relationship, family, your own mental health... :hmpf:

I am a really big anime fan and I spend about 40 minutes per day watching some on my computer.
I noticed that when I hear people's voices without listening to them, I often understand japanese. I think I should take a bit of rest x_x .Dunno if nyone here has noticed this once.

No more gravity than being in love with Anime. It all depends on what you allow it as well as your Anime to influence and affect as a whole. My family and friends know I am insanely obsessed with Anime and Manga and Anime Games and they know not to diss it or make fun of it unless they want me to kick their ass in the worst way. In all actuality I keep my Anime and Manga very privet and in secret just incase some unworthy hands happen upon them or unworthy eyes happen to gaze upon their excellence. I know the deep gravity that both Anime and Manga has when I saw it first and raw for the first time I thought I was going to throw up I mean it was blood splatter and a headless body in a cartoon. But then after the feeling of wanting to die passed and wanted more and more and I also didn't want to share it with anyone least they ruin it for me. So my answer would be I don't let it affect my life in a huge way...not out in the open at least. ;)

erm..
u noe.. 40 mins of anime a day practically only 2 episodes rite? i'm not sure thats what u call a big fan.. but still its a fan..
it doesnt really affect my everyday life, being an animanga fan. i can divide my time for manga and anime and frens and other things.. tho sumtimes i tend to procrastinate a bit.. but thats what my life is like..
and i usually spend the nights for anime and manga.. since the day is for classes and all...
ahaha~

I watch as much as i can, i get back home at 9 pm and i have a 56k connexion. Plus i live in mauritius, manga are very hard to find here...

i hab no more acable so the anime i watch is limited.Manga is lyk my only Japaanese lifeline here lol i am currently collecting Fruits Basket.I lyk reading them, but i still hab emnough time 2 go online n stuff 2 talk 2 u guys lol

Does a bear sh*t in the woods? Does an anime girl flash her panties?

In the same way that drugs have a consequence on any life. In a good way (well, thats what druggies would say...).

I'm proud of my collection, I watch as much as I can when I get my hands on them. 90% of my internet time is anime orientated (alright I have a weak connection - try 2.6K (if you're lucky) and only during weekends!) I do have contacts with betrter connections though.

Anyway, I have developed a broader knowledge of Japanese culture and ideology, can bring certain topics up in discussions, can read a *leeeetle* bit Japanese (alright I have a tabel of all the Kana and Kanji and can transliterate). Non-anime-fan friends know I'm un-re-convertable and don't dwell on that anymore. My family is used to all my references to anime (just as I am used to their references of stuff that I don't know squat about).

It works out.

People where I come from can be so negative! Even worse they can be boring. I need my daily doses of manga, and anime to keep it together. Most characters in the manga I read are boundless. I need that kind of energy in my life to be a manga-ka/ animator person.

I don't know... but kinda... because if I take too much time one anime and manga, then I won't be able to study.

But other from that, I don't think it will have too much of a bad consequence.

Not really. I'm not too addicted to anime/manga.

Though when I'm really into the story I might watch a lot of episodes. xD

But in general it's not that big of a problem... anime just replaced my daily tv show time.

hmm...let's see...not really, i'm not really obsessed to the point of insanity XP

I may really like anime but at least i go out side and live life to the fullest. As in go to school, the movies, shopping etc. most of the time has nothing to do with anime. The only people who know i like anime are my friends everyone else thinks i dont even know the meaning of the word untill i show them a dvd i have on me lol.

It affects the life of my family because i always dl anime stuff from the net. That's why our electric bill is high.

My family keeps bugging me because of that. >_<

Yes! Everyone at my school thinks it's crazy that I can read backwards. But, really besides that no. It's really no diffrent then liking anything else.
