For neither.... ...I want to be a better person.. ...There's something out there
for those who are willing to look past a selfish life. ...And through God's
sacrifice and provision, I have grown to trust him, regardless of "eternal
life", in any definition. ...Truly, I hope to spend eternity with He who is
undoubtedly my closest friend.
I just like to think that there is more besides this life... that someone
created us... I just hate those scientists who try to prove everything humans
could believe is false. Life could be funnier without them.
I agree with Archer79, God is more a friend to me than a source of eternal life.
God also gives me dreams of samurai combats ^_^
I believe in God because we owe our existence to him and for that, we are
eternally indebt. But never the less, if we believe in Him, we shall have
eternal life. How great is that?
Well, why should I not believe in a god/divine force/whatever?
I don't want eternal life, I don't believe in hell, and I'm not partial to most
Christian theories thereof. I do however truly believe that there is more than
me out there - its arrogance to assume that we as humans are the superior
beings; we're simply too flawed. However, humans are able to think for ourselves
- and to me, the very fact that we can concieve of a god/divine force says
something.
I believe in God, because I have lived long enough to experience many miracles
that scientists and doctors can't even begin to explain. I also feel at times
when I'm being worked against God and I have to fight constantly from doing the
wrong thing, like telling lies and things of that nature. Comments 2-4 are also
reasons why I put in salvation in Christ.
I believe in God. Why? Well, first, because it's Him who created me. Second,
it's because of Him that I'm still alive at this moment, safe, and healthy.
Healthy enough that I'm able to post this reply. There's no one but God that can
create and look after the universe and us, His creation, for million years with
great care. He's my best Friend ever.
I can't say I believe in God, but I don't deny a possible existence of a higher,
incomprehensible being. The world is very complex, looking more towards physics
than biology. It's easy to see how biological creatures could have occurred in
this world the way they have, and I don't think that if the physics of the
universe were different, life wouldn't exist, but I do think that the existence
of physics in general is a good enough reason to believe that something set this
in motion.
I believe there is a creator of the universe because chance alone cannot explain
why the universe wasn't in total chaos. Why are the planets not crashing into
each other? Who thought of the design? Do earth has the only life?
Though I pursue science I still believe thier is an architec that was spoken by
religion. I do not believe in eternal life but believe of what the good things I
could do before I pass away.

The universe WAS in total chaos, and it still is really. The atmosphere is the
only reason we're not pelted with asteroids all the damn time. The planets in
our solar system aren't crashing into each other because they've already settled
down. Why do you think planets spin in different directions? At one point they
crashed into something. And yes there probably is life on some other planet but
I'm not sure what that has to do with your point.

if they settle down do there gravity pull is still stable? for example planet
jupiter is the largest planet and obviously it has bigger attraction of gravity
why can't it pull nearby planets to crash to itself during of which it is far
away of the rest of the year of orbit around the sun thus breaking away from the
sun's own gravity pull?
i'm a catholic and i believe in God but i belive the Catholic Church puts up to
much censorship to many things I just belive you just need to do good things...

I'm no astronomer but I'll do my best here. First of all we're really far away
from jupiter. Jupiter is about 5 times farther from the sun than we are. Second,
even though Jupiter is big as hell (11 times the diameter of earth and about 300
times its mass, we could jam 1300 earths inside it), the sun is far bigger. The
sun is 10 times the diameter of Jupiter itself. See compared to the earth
Jupiter is huge but compared to the sun it's tiny. We're in no danger of Jupiter
pulling us or any other inner planets into it any time soon.
However that doesn't mean Jupiter won't kill us one day. It just won't be by
overpowering the suns gravity and engulfing us inside of it like pacman eating
one of those little point balls. Jupiter has a tendency to pull floating rocks
into it's gravitational field and launch them at the earth (or our general
direction anywho). Pretty sure the dinosaurs caught one of those.
Yeah... Its good to believe there's something THERE when we die. And Ive heard
too many stories of the afterlife to not believe in one , even if its not
perfect. Like the Chinese belief is that if your time to reincanate doesnt come,
you will be limbo, being pushed around by scumbags spirits if you're unlucky and
its up to your family to change that by moving homes and in turn, your soul and
altar place(of the Ancestoral Plaque, which we burn joss sticks for every
morning). There are even Spirit police, almost like grim reapers who guide the
newbie spirits who dont know where to go afer they just dies. Heck, Dad even had
a dream where he saw my dead uncle, and was having a great time, being best
friends with all the locals as a hero, and my grandma who wouldnt come ee anyone
as she was praying in the Guan Yin/ Boddhisattiva temple... what a weird dream
huh? And I dont think dad likes makng up stories to impress me when all he needs
to do is talk kung fu or something.
I believe in God,becouse he created us,he loves us and I love him,when I'm sad I
just try to talk to him in my mind and I feel like he would be my friend, when I
don't know what to do I just try asking myself what would be the good thing to
deceide, what would he recommend me to do,I believe in angels, which guide us
throught life, and afterlife,I believe in reincarnation,I believe that every life
and thing has sense(light or dark),I never blame him, becouse he gave us free
will,so when something happens,it's due to humans free will, and I believe that
nature,planet lives too,just different way...I don't believe in hell,becouse God
wouldn't do us something bad,I don't believe that he is revengeful...
And for believe I don't need facts,it's just the way I feel it in the heart ^^
Because He pretty much took a cluebat to my head and told me to get my act
together at a critical time in my life. Kind of difficult to deny the existence
of someone who is square in front of you. (Though some people do a pretty good
job of doing that, anyway...*sweatdrop*)
Then again, I'm Celtic, and we tend to talk about God the same way you talk
about your neighbours. Where I'm from, denying the existence of God is the same
as declaring that the Queen doesn't exist.
You buy a watch at the store. Now you probably don't think about it but, isn't
it logical that that very watch was created by human hands? How very detailed
every cog and gear is operating the very funtion of that devise? How much more
introcate the earth is! From the simplest celled organism to the complexity for
the human body, how can one believe that we came from an accident? It's not just
blind faith that should make one believe that there is a God, but common sense.

anyway I believe because whenever I pray He tells me He exists

Wow I wonder how many times the Blind Watchmaker has to be proven completely
illogical for people to stop quoting it like it's somehow original...
I don't feel like refuting it myself so here's Dawkins...
"We can safely conclude that living bodies are billions of times too
complicated - too statistically improbable - to have come into being by sheer
chance. How, then, did they come into being? The answer is that chance enters
into the story, but not a single, monolithic act of chance. Instead, a whole
series of tiny chance steps, each one small enough to be a believable product of
its predecessor, occurred one after the other in sequence. These small steps of
chance are caused by genetic mutations, random changes - mistakes really - in
the genetic material. They give rise to changes in the existing bodily
structure. Most of these changes are deleterious and lead to death. A minority
of them turn out to be slight improvements, leading to increased survival and
reproduction. By this process of natural selection, those random changes that
turn out to be beneficial eventually spread through the species and become the
norm. The stage is now set for the next small change in the evolutionary
process. After, say, a thousand of these small changes in series, each change
providing the basis for the next, the end result has become, by a process of
accumulation, far too complex to have come about in a single act of
chance."
Do you believe in god because you want eternal life or for more less selfish reasons?
please give reason(s)

I am more interested and intersted in Religion-science.
I have proven, human minds is turned upside down, because they have faith on empirics and objective rational
,
They Conflict with Teaching about faith on invisible.
Now , this is more interesting

IN my honest opinion:

heheh for none of the two..
just because i've thinked a lot..
and realized that material things is not everything..
there is something more..
and ppl call this something more God..
all I want from him is not eternal life, happiness, prosperous, etc. All I want is "love" and I want to love him more than every humans do.

God is God, I believe without a reason to belive that is what we call faith, faith is blind needs no explications or investigation.

Life.. has no meaning... for example.. u wake up in the morning... eat breakfast... and go to work.
U work for 8 hours and return home. U see ur wife and kids. U eat dinner. Then do different stuff and go back to bed..
This will repeat for years..
Do u call this life?
Life is more a test, when u pass this test... life will really begin
