Here's what me think:
- The background's a bit too plain.. brighten it up a bit, or add some effects
to add more life to it.
- The black silhouette doesn't blend well (yet) with the background and water
(it's water, right?)
- The girl in the foreground grabs more attention than the silhouette. Decide
which you want to stick out more then work your way from there.
That's all i have to say.. Hope it was of some help..
if you want to do a silhouette wall, then you shouldn't have the girl in the
front...however, the background you have chosen works better with the girl in
the front...
if you leave both in, the silhouette may be considered ghosting...i think you
should choose one or the other...
if you go with the silhouette image, you should soften the edges a lot more and
maybe not make it so black...i'd also suggest putting some mist (and place
butterflies in front) around the shadow to help blend the bg more....
you could also try something else like putting the colored character in the
middle of the water and make it look like she's standing/emerging from the
water...you can try taking a look at this water wall: Beachgirl's by semanga
I'm not so enthusiastic about the silhouette. Like rituel said, it doesn't blend
in very well, especially with the straight edge at the bottom. It also distracts
from the main chara image.
A lot can be done with bg too. The solid blue bg is a bit flat; some gradients
would liven it up. Also, you've got planets, but the rest of the sky is empty;
some stars would fill that in.
Let me start with what I like ^_^* I really like the black whispy flowers in
front of the character and the two moons in the background looks awesome! The
butterflies are cute too and the extraction of the character is quite nice
too.
Now what I'm not too crazy about is the silhouette in the middle of the water,
the legs are chopped off in too a straight line. It definately distracts from
the rest of the wallie. The overall feeling is peaceful and serene and this big
black shadow kind of ruins the theme you have going.
I believe that an enough original concept, in fact the character is beautiful,
although the shadow in a middle of the wallpaper removes perspective, from my
point of view.
HUGE change! I love the sillouhette one, it's lovely. The first one I think
might be better if the shadow was softer and more transparent. Only other
thoughts: now that you have the way-cool whispy black flowers, I don't know if
the text fits. Now she's more at the edge of the ocean than lost in the middle.
I agree with sailorchiron. If youre going to keep that black shadow, you need to
make it less black and more transparent. It might look better if you moved the
shadow up a teeny bit more too. As for the second version, it looks too plain
because youre background is so soft but then it has that harsh black silloutte.
I definitely like the one above better.
You might also want to make the character herself a little bit transparent too.
I think it would look very very nice if you took some sparkle brushes and made
some sparkles spiraling up around her.
Here's my two cents on this latest incarnation:
- I think the silhouette-only works better
- perhaps it's just me, but plantlife like that looks kinda off when the title's
"lost in an ocean".. unless it's near a swamp, that is..
- the reflection of the moon on the surface of the water might add a better
sense of realism..
wow they both look so much better now! If youre going to go with the shadow one,
you might want to make the edges softer. If you like the one with the original
scan in it (the one on the top) what you could try doing is moving the girl back
a little so she has some "water space" infront of her (or erasing some
of the plants infront of her) and placing the silloutte as a shadow rippling on
the water. it would have to be positioned according to where the moon is though.
you cant have it rippling off the water behind her...most likely from where her
body touches the water to towards the left bottom.
For the one without the shadow, I prefer this...?
2nd Version, edited the title, although no creativity there xD
This one.... Let's just say that my perspective is zero I
tried to adjust but i just don't know how x.x And also, should I change the
layout to something else, becos it doesn't look that nice in this option, but i
hope its alright....
its looking better and better everytime you edit it! As of right now, I like the
second one the best. Here are some things you could do to improve the first
wallpaper (the top one)
-add some white in the bottom left by the flora (the trees and bushes) so the
wallpaper looks more balanced
Things you could do to improve the third one (the one on the bottom)
-the shadow of the girl is positioned wrong. it should be diagonally going
towards the bottom left, starting from the part where her legs touch the water.
a veru crappy example I made in 5 minutes: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/691/reflectionex9cq.jpg
hmm...I cant remember how it goes, but i think the farther away the light source
is, the longer the shadow is. But if you want to do it this way, you are going
to have to move the girl back and maybe remove some of the shrubbery infront of
her.
I like the one on the right (no reflection), because the reflection does look
flat on the water. and also I think the reflection would look better pointing
towards the edge (right) instead of center. The one with no reflection also
zooms in on the girl, giving it more focus.
I also like the silhouette version. it has a really nice mood that suits the
marsh-y look of the water and plants. Also, I really like the colours of that
background. except maybe add some mist to that one.
I like the plants in the foreground, but that one branch going from top left
down looks like it doesn't belong (I can't quite figure out where it came from,
whether it's a broken branch or what..), because the rest of the braches go
upwards from bottom left towards top right, and this one just so out of
place.
very VERY nice! I love them~ they look awesome now. I think I like the
silhouette only one, but you did a really good job on the reflection. keep the
great work up!
Worked on the silhouette one and hopefully, it turned out ok o.o? The fog didn't
turn out that great? o.o? And i removed the branch if I did, remove the right
one that is o.o so...which should i work on, which do you prefer more? The
silhouette one or the one without the reflection?
Hi people, another in progress wall x.x how does it look? I like the concept a lot, how can i work to improve on it? Give your comments x.x

Two versions coming up ^^ I hope its a lot more better! should the feathers be removed ^^"

Hmmm? tried my best to edit xD

Hope I didn't flood the first wall paper with stars -________________-

In the first version, the shadow looks off, since there's nothing there to cast the shadow on. Could we see it without the shadow?

For the chara version, I have to say I like the one without the shadow better. The shadow is at an odd angle, so it rather clashes.
I agree with bluSake about the shadow. Very pretty!
Better or worser?
and i might want to consider submiting the silhouette-only
one?

The reflection version doesn't look quite right to me. & I vote for the character version; much more solid than the silhouette-only.

The silhouette's too dark for the background.
Soften the edges of the shadows.
I hope this one's better x.x
