I have some sleeping problems these day and the bad news is I've just started my college.

I need to be at my college at 9.00a.m. I wake up at 7.20a.m. Somehow, I couldn't fell asleep even it is past 12.00a.m. I can't go to bed at 10a.m., if I did I would end up stayed awake till around 1-2a.m. Even if I felt very tired and sleepy, I would end up till early in the morning then I could have a little time to sleep before I prepare myself to college.

I'm so worry about my sleeping habit as if I didn't get enough sleep, I couldn't pay a full attention to my lectures and feel sleepy till the end of my lessons. It is bad for my health too.

I did not take any nap as my lessons are continuously till around 5p.m. The extra time I use it for my assignments.

Please! tell me or any advice(s) for getting a fast sleep?

That's very hard. I can relate because I get a lot of insomnia too. It might help to drink something warm before you sleep. I normally eat before I sleep, and I usually listen to music. I guess routine helps. Maybe you should try herbal teas? Good luck! I hope you are able to get more sleep!

Ummm....basically I find reading a book(*like history books XD) effective...drink also milk, it can help you ;). haha...but the best way I can advice to you is force yourself to sleep...you know, our body has a clock...so if you will regularly sleep early...our body has a tendency to sleep early too...

Ummm.... I can't sleep so night... but maybe reading a book full of writting can make your eyes tired. Apple can make you sleep fast (maybe.... I read it from a book). You can try to hear slow music.... drink a herbal tea maybe can help you... XD

Ah, I had the same problem when I couldn't sleep before one of my final exams, and I ended up staying up all night, and didn't get any sleep before the exam!

I think that each time u are about to go to bed, let your body know by brushing ure teeth, reading a book, and just doing things that tell your body its ready to go to sleep. If you do this every night for a longtime then your body will know. But, if you lie there and can't get to sleep, I think you definately should read as said before, it helps heaps.

Or....if all else fails, use sleeping pills ^^

i too have the same problems before but i tell you, college is very tiring, i'll help (hehe, well, that's my opinion)

many things that's why you can't sleep,, they said that if you clear your mind and close your eyes, you'll fall asleep,.
my way,, i close my eyes(even if i want to open it) till i fall asleep,.,.,
another,, i close my eyes, and fantasize (i mean, i'm making a story inside my mind,, any kind of story until i fall asleep)..
the most effective for me is the last one,,. before i knew it, i already fall asleep in no time,.,^_^'
hmm, reading books also help,,. heheh
how about a hot shower to relax your body and eventually, you'll feel like sleeping,,,
anyway,.

usually...i just close my eyes and try to force myself to sleep...and an hr later...i did fall asleep...

I totally relate to your problem! First what you need to do is figure out why you can't get to sleep! Example: Are you lying in bed thinking too much, worrying? Or are you legs really restless and you are constantly moving them around?
My problem is that I am a worrier! I lay in bed and I think about EVERYTHING! I try several things to get to sleep. The first is a breathing technique. You breathe very slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth. While you are doing this you are concentrating only on this. Move everything else from your mind. Slowly, you fall asleep!
If that doesn't work, I made this one up on my own. I make up a story in my head and act it out. I am guessing that you are into anime since you are on this site. I sometimes take an anime and change it a little or take characters from other animes, whatever you want to do. Make a story and concentrate on that to keep your focus off of your daily life problems that would normally keep you awake. These two techniques usually help me fall asleep.
If all else fails another answer is to go to your doctor and get a mild sleeping pill. They are very helpful and are not harmful. I have taken Ambien and it has helped me very much in the past. It is a very light sleeping pill and will not leave you hung over like some.

i just dont think of sleeping ^.^

I have some good advices, sleep late one night and then wake up early the next morning (you might fall asleep while standing the rest of the day but it works to get your sleeping hours into a normal schedule... at least it worked for me). Other is to drink a cup of hot milk qith tea and then get into bed at an early hour and read a boring book for an hour (it always works). You can watch a boring movie too (that works for me ^^). Also you can take half of a sleeping pill (or even a complete one) for one night and then your sleeping hours start to fit normally.

Well that's pretty much all I had made to get some sleep in my life ^^ ohhhh AND NEVER TAKE A NAP yeah, if you do that you might never fall asleep at night.

Well, I have sleeping problems myself and I didn't sort them out so maybe I shouldn't give advice lol, but I'm kind of a hard case.
Anyway:
1. If you have the time, do some sports or gym or whatever, something that will make you even more tired at the end of the day.
2. If your starting to get sleepy, go to sleep. Don't think "I have something to do before going to bed", otherwise you will awaken and won't sleep for the next few hours.
3. Try to watch some documentary programs, like those on Discovery channel. Even if you find an interesting program, it will make you sleepy propably :P
4. Clear your head and stop thinking when your in bed or let your imagination lose. The second works for me, the first is suppose to be effective also.
5. You can try taking some light pills if everything fails, nothing too hardcore so you can stop at any time.

Bring a pillow to class or lectures...

hmm i usually fall asleep by listening to music or just staring into the darkness. i dunno, maybe your head is distracted from the bright lights or something..comp perhaps? =D

Emm.......maybe drink hot plain milk will help you,and don't think something that make you stress before sleep,just relax.You can also imagine things that can make you the happiest person in the world,or things that you most desired.... Hope you'll be able to sleep well soon~~~~^^

Well one suggestion I can give you that may or may not work is when you sleep around 10pm . and wake up around 1 or 2am .... dont get up close your eyes again then go back to sleep, even if youre thirsty or hungry forget about it just go back to sleep again. This is how I usually force myself to sleep because the moment I get up and try to do something I can no longer go to sleep I even slept for 13hrs with this method, (I needed to wakeup to watch Anime). But, then again Im sorta lazy aswell. ^^

Try melatonin. It's a nutritional suppliment available through GNC and the like. It's worked for me when I needed a good night's sleep and didn't want to take sleeping pills to fall asleep. It may also help with overnight vital-body-systems healig. Try it as directed & tell me how it worked for you.


Well, sometimes, I have problems to fall sleep, specially from Sunday to Monday, because I have to wake up really early ( 6:00 am = / ) . You shoudl try this : do not drink coffee after 17:00. Coffee will let you awake. And do not fall sleep with TV on or after spending time in front of computer. Those things makes you feel excited, attent, get it ? Try reading a book, laid down in your bed at 22:00. You'll see, in about 20 minutes, you'll be sleeping. I hope I could help.

i don't have problems with falling asleep. i usually drink a cup of milk, think about something nice and some music in my ears and i fall asleep very easy... you should try it...at me it works every time
