K, so I'm a canadian 4h member and being such has given me the oppurtunity to go
on an exchange program to Japan for 7 weeks this summer! I leave this thursday
and am very excited. I will be learning how to speak japanese for the first part
of the exchange and the second part I will live in a smaller town and go to folk
festivals and such. I really want to make the most of this trip, so does anyone
have any suggestions of stuff I should do or look for? I stay in Tokyo for the
first part and in Kyushu for the second part.
DoH ! Make sure your passport is up to date and do have travel insurance. Never
know when U may get sick. Too bad, you can't stay longer and do alittle
travelling up to Hokkaido (Island) to Sapporo and the local environs. One can
take the train (Shinkansen) from Tokyo to Hakodate, transfer to the local train
up to Sapporo. One would see alot of open space (shocking to see in Japan
!)
Check out the town of Nikko, home to the "Yomei-mon Gate", part of the
Toshogu Shrine National Park. This is a World Heritage Site (United Nations). A
MUST SEE if you like historical buildings !
