Hey there everybody! I need some help. Although I've been an anime fan for a while now, I usually get stuck watching only what comes on Adult Swim. Also I'm hopelessly sheltered...I need some suggestions for good shows and movies! Any help you folks can give me would be awesome. Thanks!

Uhm, if you like the horror type, I suggest Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D : Bloodlust or Ghost Stories. If you like more the comedy/romance ones, I suggest Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew or Kaleido Star (a bit of fantasy, too). For adventure/comedy, watch Shaman King! That's what I've seen so far and they all are pretty good! Hope you find something you like ^_^!

in terms of must see anime series... you'll want to check out full metal alchemist and witch hunter robin,(by far my two favourite series ever!) you'll also want to look up inuyasha, bleach, vampire princess miyu, chrno crusade, tsubasa, resevoir chronicle, xxxholic, and naruto... those are the best ones that i can think of right off the top of my head.... hope you enjoy them!

Well...I've been an anime fan for 6 years and I've seen quite a few of them.

An almost fan favorite for anyone is Card Captor Sakura (this is what I started with a long time ago), it's got a mix of everything.

Other great ones are Azumanga Daioh, Burst Angel, Comic Party, DNAngel, Divergence Eve, Doki Doki School Hours, Fruits Basket, Gravion (both series), Get Backers, Happy Lesson, My-Hime, Ghost Stories (well...technically it's not a horror, it leans more on comedy), Galaxy Angel, Maburaho, Kodocha, Angelic Layer, Kamichu, Strawberry Marshmallow, Onegai Teacher / Twins, Read or Die, Sakura Wars, Ultramaniac, Stratos 4, Stellvia, Full Metal Panic / Fumoffu, etc. etc.

This is an absolute great starter list, I guarantee you won't be disappointed with any of these series(s) I've given. The best places to find out about more are animenewsnetwork.com and animeondvd.com. Hope that helps you out!

Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, BLEACH and One Piece. Among those you should like at least one, as for me I like em' all.

I will not recomend what I'm watching because I think it will be too mature for you (its not porn!) who're still a cub, but if you tell me what your tastes are we migh be able to help more. Remember that just b/c one series is one's person all time favorite it doesn't mean you will like it

Oh, and it would also help to know which seres you have alrwady seen and liked.

What i suggest that's not on Adult Swim: Oh my goddess, Loveless, Love Hina, Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin. All of 'em are really good shows!

Rah-Xephon, Rurouni Kenshin, Anything by Studio Ghibli.

Well depends on what u like.. romance, comedy, action, horror, long or short shows etc.

what about school rumble..really light anime humour.

i recommend Full Metal Panick! because it has a mixture of action, comedy, romance... plus it's not on adult swim. Adult swim actually got very good animes, so i wouldn't think of you as "hopelessly sheltered" ~^^~ They have EVA-- which is, in my personal opinion-- the best anime ever made.
But my personal favourite has to be FMA (which is also playing on adult swim), otherwise Bleach is a very popular anime across the golbe right now

I'll agree with quills on EVA and BLEACH. Also a good one that isn't on [Adult Swim] is R.O.D. The letters stand for Read Or Die. The OVA or the show version are very good animes. Also you can't leave out one of the best anime movies made, AKIRA. And the JAPANESE version of NARUTO, not the english ('cause that sucks), is a must see because it leaves all the good language and BLOOD (not sure how they did the show w/out it). If you get a chance to get the 2 Movies for Vampire Hunter D, those are good as well. Shinsengumi89, rorry, TheFreak77m, and Inuyusha-FAN have the best suggestions that I can see. HAVE FUN NOW!

5.never watch Ikkitousen.Its a huge crap

I Highly recommend Full Metal Panic!, Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid because it's hillarious and very funny. A lotsa action is in it, u cant miss it. Fruits Basket and School Rumble are very funny. u should watc them.

Also try Full metal Alchemist And Neon Genesis Evangelion. Both of 'em got Complicated Stories and Action.

All of CLAMP anime are high-rated. They never betrayed anime lovers. Naruto, Inuyasha, .Hack (pronunced dotHack) Series,Genzomaiden Saiyuki Series, Black Cat, and Bleach are things i reccomend. Well then, take care and and have real fun.

Even though I'm replying to this question, I find it uncommonly ridiculous, and at the same time, ridiculously common. That said, I'll give you the precious few titles that are required viewing for any who want to call themselves anime fans:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Any Studio Ghibli film
Any Gundam series
Cowboy Bebop (this is a bit of a stretch)

I can't think of any others at the moment that would fit with this company. Note that these aren't necessarily my favorites (because those are so very subjective, and the reason I dislike these kinds of questions). They are just shows that you HAVE to have watched for the slightest otaku-respect (if you even want any of that =P

Maburaho, I loved that anime. It's actually my favorite.
