i know this might make me sound like a jerk, but i need to get it off my
chest
if you think it should go in the complaints area i guess that's your call, but
its not really a direct complaint, just a lamentation (like the forum name
suggests )
anyways, i don't really use this forum anymore (not like i used to anyway) and i
only log in every couple of weeks to see if anyone's left me any messages.
i guess the main reason i don't log in as much is i really don't like the new
system here.. i used to be a frequent poster and active member, but too many
things changed as far as usability. there were a lot of bugs with the new system
(and still are), and i just got tired of posting bug report after bug report...
then they got rid of signatures and avatars on individual posts (which really
seemed to depersonalize everything.. members couldn't show any kind
individuality or creativity without people having to click on their name and
take a look at their profile..). and i guess that just kind of crossed the line
for me
also if you've left me a guestbook comment and i haven't responded yet, its
probably because its merged with one of your previous comments and i don't get
notified (one of the many unfortunate side-effects of this new minitokyo we live
in >.> ), and its a REAL PAIN going through every guestbook post every day
to see if any posts have merged >:( i do love hearing from people though, and
if you want to contact me please do it via pm

I agree that the forums/guestbooks messaging is annoying when posts get merged
and you don't get notified. I tend to only get back to people after someone else
has posted in my guestbook, but I tend to have rather regular posts with my
activity, so that's the way it is. I've never been much involved with the Forum
community though now I've become a bit of a regular in the Sandbox.
I don't know about dead... but I think things are a bit slower-paced with the
new system... I've always come here for the sharing and collecting of images and
that hasn't changed for me... The changes took a bit of getting used to, but by
remaining a regular I got used to them.
My sentiments exactly. I don't
come on here to post art and on the forum. only for my messages... and even the
g/b messages get screwed up. *sigh* It just isn't the same.
Actually, I haven't really like Minitokyo since the first wallpaper of mine was
deleted. I mean, if you're not a GFX master, there's no doubt that every single
of your wallpaper will get deleted by the system. I think that in that way, it's
become very exclusive in the arts area. However, the people here are very
friendly (except some of the active atheists who know that I have a religion) so
I continue to write reviews and post forum replies and random stuff like
that.
But it's pretty sad, removing avatars, signatures, and such things.
I don't find anything about the community aspect all that different, except
maybe the departure of a lot of awesome members, but what I have noticed is the
almost ridiculous censorship of some gallery items. A friend of mine had a
lovely vector deleted for being too "pornographic", when the two
characters presented were doing nothing of explicit sexual nature. I'd also like
to add that the original scan is still present in the gallery. This site has
gone from formerly having a hentai section to being blatantly anti-anything
suggestive of sex or violence. I have not personally had anything deleted for
those reasons, I'm just observing.
i think theres a setting to let you view avs and sigs (or not).so maybe your
setting's wrong.
i do agree that one of the downsides of merging posts is the usual gb problem,
it can get somewhat irritating, but that's only because the system is trying to
reduce the number of people who post simply for the sake of having the number on
their post count increase.its a double-edged sword, just like many other
things.you cant have a cake and eat it^^same case here.
i don't think this place is dead...only clique-ish.i guess its only natural, in
anywhere, but maybe that's whats making you feel that the community is dead
nowadays.i can't really teach you how to "get accepted" since i'm kind
of an outcast, but i suppose you'll just have to learn how to do that yourself

and i disagree with the people who gave up just because your wallpaper got
deleted.no master artist created the masterpieces without creating the crappy
ones first.i mean...i still remember how my first wallie was like.and i'm proud
of it.after all, it is my first wallpaper even if it wasn't all that decent.
it is my first wallpaper ever, and i put all my
effort into it.if you can't be proud of your own work, who can? and just
because it gets deleted doesn't mean you suck.it just means you gotta get better
and the day your wallpaper is accepted, it means you have crossed a landmark.the
next stop is to make it into the elite gallery and take your art one step
further.one should not give up so easily just because of setbacks.
remember: failure is the mother of success.literally.
I personally would take the setback of deletion and turn it into my drive to
make better walls. [This thinking can be applied to other stuff too.]
I would imagine the drive would be greater if you want to meet or beat some of
the better wallers too. [Thats my personal drive]

tricks." And, well, we're just a buch of old members. So, we're kinda
reluctant to jump for joy over these changes.

pictures. I don't do that anymore, because I won't be able to get everything I
want. I sure as hell won't make a few thousand posts in a week to get all of the
credits I'd need, and the only artwork I've done is sigs. If what people say is
true, the only thing I could submit are high quality scans, which is simply BS.
Go to your Control Pannel, Minitokyo Options, Post Format and tick
"Full". I only recently found that one out.
My complaint would be the "sqeaky clean" current image. I posted some
scans (I don't make wallpapers) and they were raunchy. Ok, they were lightly
clad. Just now, in the pictures dumb a guy uploaded a pic that was deleted, same
reason, and I truly could not see what was wrong. She showed a cleavage! That
was pathetic. Go outside and censor everybody there!
Some mods are really on a power trip. Some are cool though. Same with some
users.
Thats the extent of my complaints.
I must add however, that there are hundreds of other anime-orientated forums on
the net. I've joined a few, participated a bit, but never really returned. MT is
still host of some of the best walls I've seen (plus mark for high standards? -
maybe users should vote on wether an upload is good or bad and should be deleted
- no chance! Too many spitefull bastards out there)
Man to complain about MTv3 nearly 40 weeks after it was initiated is kinda wierd
to me. Most of your complaints don't make much sense to me either. I can clearly
see you have an avatar and a signature image that you had to have custom
made...so whats the problem? Everyone can see it on anything you post on. Then
you complained that you don't get notification of when someone posts in your
guestbook because it gets merged. It will only merge if the last person who
posts in your guestbook posts again, it does not merge if I post, then someone
else posts and I post again. You would get notifications for each of those and
my 2 posts would not be merged since someone posted in between them.
The only thing I could suggest and it's not really a complaint, but it would be
nice if the Groups section had a search in it or something or at the bottom of
the Browse section that any groups affiliated with an anime or game are listed
below so you can easily access them.
well i agree, it's dying. It lots of people left people of the strict rules and
stupied laws. Like how my submition was drawn by my friend and she put it on MT
wih my account and its deleted. why?because they think its "stolen" or
"taken directly frolm another site" and how it keeps deleting peoples
post that the members love because the quailty isn't good enough. It's gotten ti

They should have found a much better way to deal with the posting part of it. Merging without notification is annoying.
