I did a thread search, and found a few threads that MAY have some similarities
to this one im making, but I do think this will be unique.
Everyone wonders and debates the topic of where we came from, who we're destined
to become, what is happening somewhere else, are there other life forms, etc.
There have been many theories proposed to answer this, some sound very good,
some sound very farfetched. To stay neutral, im saying that these could AND
could not be true, because nothing has been proven so far.
One of my theories is that we, humans and the universe, may just be something
like a science project, to a being so large by our proportions, that we could be
microscopic to 'it'. 'It', could be observing life taking it's course. Sounds
farfetched, but at least it seems tangible. Another plausible theory goes with
Plato's Allegory of the Cave. We all live in a false world where there are
imperfects, and no one knows truth.
This thread gives everyone a chance to express their creativity, or intellectual
rationale as to where they think we came from, or what kind of reality we live
in. Dont be shy! Please comment! I want to know if im sane or not and
whether anyone here is into philosophy!
I know that either this tread will die out quick or will turn into a flame war
between christians and atheists, with smatterings of other theories on the side
(intelligent design, eternal universe, etc) Oh well, here it goes
again.
The only theory that has any scientific validity is evolution and the Big Bang.
Despite gaps (which close daily), they are the best theorys out there which
explain our origin. And despite what you say, many points of evolution have been
proven, whereas other theories have zero proof, only wild speculation and old
traditions held as truth because of their age. I won't indulge in a huge post
because I'm very tired and I have better things to do at the moment, but the big
bang is certainly more plausible than an inconceivabe being just making us in
six days for no particular reason.
Who knows, maybe our universe was made by the collisions of two branes floating
about in higher dimensions as is believed by some string theorists. Maybe our
universe came out of the back end of some 10th dimensional cow?
Nice one, CyberDragoon! Gather some adepts, give it two thousand years, and your
post might become the holy text of the one true religion, no matter what those
foolish scientists say!
Worship the 10-d Cow and her prophet CyberDragoon! For lo, is it not written
upon the sacred forum of minitokyo, that the blessed cow gave birth to our
universe, paring away all extra dimensions for our feeble human eyes? Did the
prophet not write so? It is truth! Rejoice! Moooooooo! Follow the Cow! Moooooo!
lol...i guess some of us DO have creative minds. Tobiast, i see where you're
going with your FIRST post I
however, dont want this to turn into a debate thread between christans and
atheists. This is purely for personal comment and speculation. Work off of each
other's posts; who knows, we might actually FIND how the universe began by pure
luck :p
I know that; however, a clash of ideas in this case is inevitable because they
are so radically different. You're optimistic, which is a good thing: I've seen
too much religious prejudice and idiocy to believe any good will come from it.
The best I can hope for is that things won't get too ugly.
Anyway, the christians will assert that goddy made the world, he is infallible
and strong, and we must all believe in him for salvation. The atheists will say
that we are here because we evolved from primordial soup coming from the big
bang and we must live life to the fullest and to the best. Those are the two
main viewpoints which always clash here on minitokyo, and the funny thing is
that the the religious arguments never change, whereas the atheist rebuttals
fluctuate according to the subject. It must be very easy to be religious: close
the eyes and ears and say goddidit. Atheists look for proof, christians look for
their bible.
