Ok so far, my fav anime series is Naruto. However, I'm somewhere in the beginning near the middle in which they start going through the preliminary exams (I'm watching it on YTV by the way). And so far, it's pretty good and exciting. However, my friend told me that once you go through the middle they start showing the fillers which are so damn annoying. Could the fillers be as annoying as the ones in Inuyasha's?

I'm not sure; depends on your interests, and how much you like the storyline (I barely watch the anime, but read the manga serialized in Shonen Jump). The filler episodes are probably like the "Stand Alone" episodes of Ghost in the Shell; have a bit of importance to the overall story, but mostly are for entertainment purposes rather than playing out events in the overall story. (I read in your other thread that you're a Kakashi fan? Huzzah for like-minded individuals... ).
