this riddle has to do w/ the way u thnk. it affects u as a person. its a part of evry1's life. its rlly tricky and very long. u hav 2 read it carefully. but please just dont say an answr, talk about it.now that i thnk of it...its kind of like a poem too. also, if u cum up w/ a possible answr, please explain y and dont wry if its wrng or rght. evry1 who tries 2 answr this, ill go tell them if its rght or wrng. oh and 1 more thng, i didnt make this riddle up, i got it frm a book. also, im not rlly concerned w/ the fact that u got the rght answr or not. im more concerned about y u got the answr u got.

I'm guessing the answer is "your intelligence".
How I came up with my answer.... Well riddles like these usually involve "thinking outside the box". The first guess most people would make is that the answer would have something to do with a physical part of your body. But that would be too straightfoward, so it would probably be something that isn't physical (ie you can't really touch or see it). The reason I chose "intelligence" as my answer is because it fits most of the criteria in the riddle, but I think my answer is wrong because it seems to straightfoward.

I can't say for sure, but I would believe that self esteem and self confidence can fit the description of what is in the poem. I think the way one views life is affected by the confidence he or she has in his or her self. Confidence can be a great asset or a difficult enemy. That's my thought on this.

This is the vital clue that leads me wondering and thinking out of the box.(Cheers to Kidder, =D). The word, "Firm". Firm mindset, firm decisons, firm grip...wats there to be firm about ? You cant be firm with your brain ? THat sounds hilarious! lol. We already have it yet to be firm about it yet again can't be grasp but can be controlled by the human mind.

I was wondering, "Hrm..not a machine yet still interactive and can be trained, easily-managed yet must show...if not it will break your life so its got to be a human defect or moral issue...some things in life are determine by the way we do things like making wise descisons and....*DING*! haha! I completely agree! I think it is your conscience, too. I even checked it with my family and they all started saying conscience before I even told them my thoughts. It was scary!^_^ But I agree for all the same reasons that SpikeyApples came to the conclusions.

Depending on a person, the brain can function readily or smoothly. Your brain also has the chance to lag from lack of oxygen, or focus in a different condition. You control your brain, it's not living. You rely on your brain to basically everything in your lifestyle.

Concentration. You need to visualise what you are thinking inside your brain and you can do what your goals tell you to. It is a servant of "great individuals", meaning that the brains of significant ones, Einstein, Galileo, etc. with failures, Louis VIII, Hitler etc.
Train your brain, and the brain becomes better, abuse it, it will rot.

I think it's your habit too...like Firemace thinks....my first thought was: calculator! Then I finished it...and I knew it wasn't that...or brains...or concience, or soul....but yah Firemace's explaination makes alot of sense to me...that's what I thought after long pondering *lol*....so....yah...:D
Um people........ one thing I hate about riddles like these are the fact that there is more than one answer to it, yet someone chose one out of the many...... there isn't much of a point since most are going to be right in a way or another........
Gosh, I really don't know. O_O All of the answers are awesome! I figure this isn't right, but I thought it was time. Time can be an asset, but also a burden if there isn't enough. I mean, time can be managed to benefit or hurt you. Plus there's the whole getting old. I could go on all day about time being connected to this in many different ways, but for now, I'll go and leave this as my answer.

I'm going to go with your subconscious.
ot full consciousness, because the majority of people have control of that. Your subconscious, however, can be trained. It can also wreak havoc on your life without you even knowing it if you don't try to train it. For example some people have phobias and don't know why. (I bet your subconscious knows why, but uts not telling unless you go in and find out yourself).
I am a habit.
Since habit is something that you do automatically it gave my first clue to the riddle.
Also the word firm is very important in this section. You can have a firm mind or grip but you can't have a firm brain.
I originally though that it was our brain but the brain coordinates everything so it couldn't be it.Since it only did half of the things, it had to be something else.
If its not a machine then I assume it is human.
A machine is precise and automatic.
Intelligence is the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
This means that whatever it is; it is precise, automatic and capable to acquire and apply knowledge.
Lastly, a habit is defined as a recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition.
If you have bad habits like smoking it will destroy you. If you have good habits such always speaking politely then it will "place the world at your feet".
