Well...my parents do know I'm open minded and a pro-gay, but they don't know I
like watching guyxguy action yet ^^'
Its not that I hide it, I just do as I would do with porn in general and
notshove it in their faces but the time will come when even that is gonna' be
tiring.
I'm almost 23 yrs old and there's really nothing they can do to make me stop
liking yaoi and well...at least they can be sure I like guys xDDD!
Still, it will be so annoying when they know, b/c I'm not homophobe,
they...well...let's say that being open-minded is not something I have from
heritage =_=...
my dad is oblivious even though he's seen me reading Loveless and Gravitation,
among others. my mom is another story; she knows and she doesn't care. lol
I don't think my parents know. I mean, I guess theyv'e seen some pictures but
it's purely innocent shounen-ai. If they knew though, well...I don't know... But
I fear for the day they'll find out. They're very unpredictable.
My mother's uneasy about me being a fan, and about homosexuality in general
(trying to be faithful to her religion...), but she believes in self-discretion,
so we have a sort of unspoken trust between us, and it's pretty much okay. My
father, though, gets freaked out over "Will & Grace", so he's a
bit odd to deal with. All in all, they just wonder how two conservative parents
produced ME, a rather liberal-minded person.
I just think it's rather amusing; for me, homophobes scare me more that a
different sexuality. .
Cool topic, thanks for bringing it up!
But if they did, it's not like they would care. They're pretty open-minded and
liberal.
It's not like I plan to come out and tell them one day "I like boys paired
with each other"...but if they find out, it wouldn't be that big of a
deal...
My parents and younger brothers don't know about my obsession. One of my
brothers almost opened "Desire" once, but I caught him just in time
and said, "You wouldn't like this one. Trust me." Luckily, he believed
me *phew* I hide my books. The less "graphic" ones are placed between
some books I know no one would ever look at, while the more mature ones are
under my sheets in the drawer under my bed
I've also downloaded a few yaoi manga, translated by various people, and I have
to take off my earphones when reading them to make sure I close the window when
someone walks downstairs
But yeah, my parents don't know, and I hope it stays that way. It'd be too weird
if they found out... *shudders*
Kinda. My mom knows that I'm into guy/guy stuff and is okay with it, although I
really doubt she realizes exactly how into I am, that some of it's porny, or how
much of the stuff I buy. My dad doesn't know, but even if he did, he wouldn't
care since he's even more liberal than my mom (and as a long as I'm not out
doing drugs and getting bad grades, he doesn't care what I do in my free time).
man. yaoi is gay. im not against gay relationships but it kinda freaks me out. i
guess watching 'light-core' yaoi is ok. like princess princess. but if any
boys... watch yaoi and get aroused/horny... something is really strange with you
already haha.
mai parents and siblings hav no idea... mai sister does read som of mai books...
but shes so young that i dont think she understands wats really happening... i
no mai parents wont like it wen they find out... especially mai mom... she
already thinks im lez bekuz i dont like wearing skirts... so... im planning on
keeping mai lov for yaoi quiet...

if i was your parent and you were a boy. you better pray i never find out
becuase i'm gonna whoop your gay ass..... if you were a girl i think i can let
it slip...
My sisters and a few of my cousins are aware of it... My parents are another
story. My parents and aunt (I live with a lot of family members) are aware that
I'm pro-gay and homophobe-phobic, but they don't (I don't think) know that I'm
really (ahem) a fan of yaoi. I don't think I could really explain what I find so
awesome about it, either. Really, how do you explain to your parents that
watching/reading guyxguy action is a pastime? It'd be especially awkward for me
because I've been into yaoi since, what, age ten? >.> Back then it was
mostly shounen-ai, though. *snickers*
I don't think my father would take it well, either. I mean, his mother, my
grandmother, is not exactly keen on homosexuality. And, to be honest, my dad's
side of the family is like a cult. They practically worship that woman (she's
just some old, senile hag...). Even though my dad is more open minded than she,
I wouldn't really want him knowing. He'd probably think that all the manga/anime
I love is some gay smut (it's only the fandom that's like that!). =.= I've been
banned from ff.net once for "accidentally" stumbling upon gay smut (my
dad found a window for it and spazzed). I'd rather it not happen again.
My mom is pretty cool with the idea of homosexuality. She's had plenty of gay
friends back when she was my age (still is in touch with them), and she
encourages me to be open minded. Haha, I also remember a time when I was trying
to come up with an idea for a creative writing assignment. It was supposed to be
a satire. She suggested (with much excitement, I might add) that I should base
it off a character who was quite the ladies man, and his worst enemy was trying
to befriend him and find out why the main character was not dating (or
something). Well, long story made short, she said to make them gay and
"having feelings" for each other
My mom knows. And totally doesn't get it but doesn't pass judgement. She
actually knows that some of the fandom is REALLY graphic and that my sister and
I read it but she doesn't want anymore detail than that. My dad...well, even if
we were close I would feel weird talking to him about it. Being old and on my
own, I don't have any worries on the parent front. My boyfriend just doesn't
understand the concept. I tried to point out that he's okay with girl-on-girl,
but he seems to think that there is no parallel. Sigh. I am an unapologetic
about my love of yaoi! And I'm a bad influence. I got my younger sister started,
then my cousin who is 10 years younger than I am, and then she infected HER
younger sister...this has been going on for years, and none of want any help for
it.
It's not that I keep it from my parents. I just hardly talk to them, yet alone
about anime itself. They never really seem interested in the things I like, so I
don't really share either.
However, if they did know, or if I told them, I highly doubt they would mind.
It's not like I watch anything too hardcore anyways. For me, it doesn't really
matter if they care or not. I watch what I want to, and if they can't accept
that, then that's their problem. Not mine ;D

understand you anyway, maybe a little trouble at the start but they'll cope with
it.

hmmm? are you male? if so you're not being true to yourself.. "not"
yaoi but you highly support it? stop pretending and say you are yaoi (aka gay)
I know that I am whole-heartedly, a yaoi fan. I mean, I eat, breath, and sleep yaoi!
But, my parents don't know a thing about my obsession. And truth be told, I'm actually afraid of what they would think.
How many of you other yaoi-fans have parents that don't know about you liking yaoi? Or do they know already?

And by the way, Gravitation and Loveless = Not Yaoi.

My friends know, but my parents don't, but then again, I don't live at home anymore, so that's unsurprising.
my parents know but let me choose what i like i have no limits and even if my parents r a litte old fashied they still want me to enjoy what i like.
