This seems interesting, and rather well-done; the only thing I'd change is to
make it so the girl is a bit more visible. Everything else seems okay; thanks
for sharing... where is the character from, though, I wonder? .
Well, to be honest, these kinds of scans are quite hard to work with. If you
have a cute scan, you'll need a cute background too.
I love the idea of using stars as bullets- perhaps you can be more daring and
have some "pow!" things here and there (very small in a very comical
kind of font).
The quality of the scan has been brought down by the overlapping rectangular
thingies. I guess filtering is not the right technique when you've got such a
clean cut sort of style. If possible, get some pentool tuts/ learn it:
and the possibilities can be unlimited.
When I see this scan though, I think of them in a tunnel... or even in a game
sort of mode like those old pacman screens lol. It doesn't have to be cluttered-
it can be quite simple in composition.
If you ask me, the best thing to improve on is the background. Everything else
is kind of fine (and remove the overlapping stuff ). Some
clever addition of text could also be visually striking
Hopefully there'll be a few more posts and you can gather some more ideas

@post above: category is seal online, i think.
It looks nice, but i just think u shood put the gurl On top of the dark line
that kind of coevers her face, it doesnt look to good but get rid of that, and
well u wood be good to go! is this ure furst wall? well if it is, its pretty
deacent! i like the colors, and the idea of it! But very nice PS work its
looking good!

I think the background colour is rather bright (too saturated)... maybe a
gentler shade of blue?
I don't think the girl needs any drop-shadow, it just makes the image dizzier.
Also, she looks like she's on "overlay" over the background, which is
why the background effects are showing through. I don't think you need that,
because it makes her harder to see and kinda dizzy...
she needs to be more visible and as kuroimisa mentioned the pen tool is tops.
actually if you managed to vector this it could be off the hook. [think really
good]
also her idea to make the wall more in your face is a great idea. make it so the
viewer attention is immediately grabbed.
reduce the filters, increase the size of the girl and the gun [she's the focal
point], the bear to the immediate left needs to be bloodied up [he got his leg
shot off], and make the stars slighty bigger.
this wall has very good potential -imo
i hope you upload your final result and let me know.
tried using the pen tool... but i guess im still a n00b can't really use it
except for making swigly lines.
so i got a template that shinta made.
i added a tech ring under pleinair so that it doesnt seem like she's flying.
Since i started out from scratch i added swigly lines cuz the wall seemed kinda
empty.
So i have 2 updated versions
one that has a white background.
and another with the similar background as the non-updated version.

gonna takeout the outer glow on the tech ring, doesnt really fit in too well.
too lazy to do it right now cuz im dead tired form today...It's like 2:30am
right now.......i think.....
so just wanted to now what else to add(or remove) from this wallpaper to make it
better.
for the bg: i would paint with a brush a complete layer in a light shade of
blue. this will look a thousand times better than any gradeint or filter
will.
you need to shift the artwork up slightly- i use a very small taskbar and some
of your wall was cut off.
if this is the first time you use pentool, i must say the extraction is
good...but see..you need to get use to pentool to make swirl like that. i can
easily see your point in the curve.
plus, the ...dont know what i should call, something like flower...you shouldnt
use black for it..it ruin the wall, some fabulous or sparkle color will be
better
I really like the white bg new version, but I hate the border. If you want to
denote the edge of the space (which I think is a good idea) I think you should
use a softer line. The character/swirly things/black flower thing/tech ring/star
bullets are totally the bomb. I can't wait to see what you do with this next.
OK so i submited this wallpaper to MT but didnt get any comments, only one fav, and a low view/dl ratio. I deleted it so i can post in here.
So here's the wallpaper
So i was wondering what i can improve on this wallpaper.

any chance you can supply a link to the scan?

OK i re-extracted some stuff with the pentool. shifted the focal picture up. added a boarder.... and thats basicly it.
So here's too versions
and
i think i forgot to move the border layer up a couple of layers so i think its being overlapped with the brush layer.
