The other day I was searching for some pics from my favorite series and games, and I got some picture that left me with a doubt, this was a picture of Taki from Soul Calibur II, but her face made me remember Sango from Inuyasha, actually, when I first saw that pic, I thought she was Sango, so my question was: Sango? Did you change your suit? But then I saw the name of Taki on the background and I realized that they look very similar, both of them do the same job, but they use different weapons, they use the same hairstyle, but their hairpins are different, and both of them are hot, each one her way, so, you could tell I smoke crack today, but the question is:
Do you believe that anime or game characters travel through different dimensions? If your answer is yes, tell us an example (In this case, each dimension is a series or a game)
If you think I'm really dope, c'mon, tell me, it will help too!

Sometimes I ghet the seme feling. Some anime caracters rely do look alike, but white slite canges. I don't have time for examples, but I must agre whin you sed abaut the demention part, but not totely. I say they don't trave, but have a "copy" in a nother demention. Like whin you rite a fanfic: you can do what you what whith you're carecter but the original autor hase difrent plaes.

Of course they travel! You know, being in only one manga, anime or video game must be boring at the end :) As an easy and simple example, take Ken Akamatsu's characters from AI Ga Tomaranai, Itsudatte my Santa, Love Hina and Negima...the male principal character has always been the same, but now he wears glasses, then he is 10 years old, then.... :D

I like this thread, and hope people post a lot of ideas!

lol just recently... i saw this scan...
Noir scan by Natsuki-MaiHime
if you watch gundam seed destiny... you might agree with me that they look like shinn asuka and rey za burrell just that they are more feminine..XD

Well yea most artist sometimes derive their arts from other artists that inspired them so somehow their arts looks relatively the same XD...

I say it plain coincidence that they look the same and not from a different dimension unless the artist all came together and and start discussing about this XD

lol, well you never know...

but the truth is, a lot of the characters by the same artist look similar, even if they're from different series. It's just the art style I think. Like Yuu Watase's male leads all look pretty similar. For different artists, it could be coincidence, or intentional, where they take inspiration from another artist.

But for look-alikes, I have two off the top of my head: Sango from Inuyasha and Shiho from Gundam SEED; Kikyou from Inuyasha and Motoko from Love Hina (manga version).
