Hi everybody!

I am a Mexican living in the UK who loves all things Japanese. Well, not all things Japanese, but at least anime, manga and videogames. :D

Even though Japanese cartoons are very popular in Mexico, and I grew up watching them, it was not until I watched Saint Seiya that I discovered the underlying poetry in anime. And from there on, I'm addicted. The other thing that I love about anime is they sometimes have incredibly deep and sometimes disturbing topics; it's cartoons for grown-ups! And being animated, the artists are free to depict almost anything, this makes anime a great medium for sci-fi and fantasy (Ghost in the Shell is one of my favourite movies of all time).

I hope to get to meet people who share similar interests in anime, learn about new series and, with a little bit of luck, even learn how to make my own wallpapers and art. As soon as I finish my thesis, I will resume my "how to draw anime" lessons. ;)

Well, many thanks for reading!

Hello there, and welcome to MT *bows in greeting*

Eheh, you're an oldie right ? Anyway, a few links that you should look at to get started around MT without being bothered by the mods :
The policy and FAQ http://support.minitokyo.net/policy/
http://support.minitokyo.net/faq/
The userguide Userguide to Minitoyko 3: credits, browsing, groups and more

That should help a bit :)... Well, good to have a new anime lover around, you make your point on anime, though i think that mangas are actually more free in what they represent than anime (especially since not all 'adult-oriented' mangas are put into animation... and i'm not talking ecchi / hentai stuff here ^_^'). Ghost in the Shell is a very good choice, i think you should watch the second one (Innocence), it's pretty good as well !

Anyway, have fun and see ya round ;)

WOW! :D *with open arms & heart* welcome to the world of anime >> MINITOKYO XD!~

hope you will enjoy as much here. this is your world :) *cheers!*

wa...you really look like the eldest member here. alright, have fun!

Waaaaah! They\'re calling me old! OX But I\'m only 30! That\'s almost like my late teens! Honestly, I would have imagined that there would be many more older animaniacs in a place like this... Or is it that we are too rusty to learn the intricacies of Photoshop? On second thought, don\'t answer that. I\'m not sure I\'m going to like it! :x

Yep, unfortunately I can rent anime or buy it for cheap on eBay, but Mange is a bit more expensive and way harder to come by (especially since I don\'t speak Japanese). Anyways, they are translating more Manga into English nowadays, so I hope I\'ll have more access to it in time. One of the reasons why I loved Belgium is that Comics are part of the culture there, therefore you can get many mangas translated into French!. Sadly in the UK you don\'t even get those French (or Spanish) translations.

Yep, I am perfectly aware that adult is not a synonim for porn or sexy. I\'ve also been reading Heavy Metal magazine, for a few years now, and it is exactly that, comic books for adults. :nya:

Actually I got it as a present a few months ago, but with me finishing my thesis and all, I\'ve had very little time to go through all my list of films owned but still to watch. :\

But you just wait until I turn in my thesis... :D

Anyways, thanks for the pointers. I'll try to make the most out of my MiniTokyo experience!

.........30 or not...WELCOME TO MT! enjoy your stay!
