As some of you must know by now, CSS is the #1 Most played First Person Shooter on Xfire.com. Xfire currently has 5,230,488 Registered Users, and it also tracks the # of minutes its gamers log ''if they wish to show them''. Counter Strike Source has been in 2nd under World Of Wracraft for ''TODAY'S TOP GAMES'' for over 1 year now, logging over 2.5 million minutes daily between its users.
I've been playing Counter Strike for about 7 years now and have been through the Original CS to CS 1.6, Counter Strike Condition Zero, Source Beta and on to Counter Strike Source. For all of these games the weapon system has remained the same. The guns, grenades, Body Armor & Ammo have always had a set cost, but Valve has other plans for that. After years of play, and years of success they intend to change this. Valve plans to change the buy menu, making the cost of weapons go up or down depending on how much the weapon is bought and used. This I believe to be a grave mistake. Players have grown accustomed to the set prices of guns and use differnt combinations of primary & secondary weapons depending on different situations and their current cash flow. I mean c'mon, it's nice to know that if you are low on cash and don't have enough for an ak47 you can drop down a notch and pick up the more affordable mp5. If they do change the weapon system to the "Stock Market Type", you will run into issues. In example, to save money but keep attack damage high you have "Deagle" rounds, in which everyone buys only a pistol, the Desert Eagle .50 AE a.k.a the Deagle. This tactic saves everyone's money so you can afford to buy a better primary weapon for the next round. If this new system is in play, and players on both sides have been buyin the Deagle, its price already high enough could rise to that of the mp5 or other primary SMG's. This would force economy rounds into the lower priced and less effective pistols. The new system may or may not apply to grendes, flash bangs, nightvison & other items, but if it does it would only add to the injury.
Now with that said ... I think that a major change like this will only hurt the gameplay. There are other issues they could work on to improve the game like improving hit boxes, making new high quality maps & player skins. Or how about fixing the ingame Favorites list so the servers I add to it actually stay there. It's like this... If it isn't broken, don't fix it, and i think Valve would do well to listen to the players.

So MiniTokyo ..... what do all of you think about this rather rediculouse & unnecessary change ?

Don't let Valve ruin Counter Strike Source. There is a petition in motion now to get our message to Valve. You can sign it here @

PLEASE support this petition....... PLEASE support this petition .......

Please get your name on this petition, it doesn't have to be your real name. Even if you don't play the game help us save it from the Icy Clutches of Valve.

It isn't really the money thing that bothers me because I think it's a pretty good idea. However, I feel that the radar ruins a lot of the fun of hiding. Cause now people can see where everyone is pretty much just from having your teammates see them. I also don't like how they made the p90 a lot weaker. By the way what server do you play on?

I have\'t played counterstrike source for a while, and haven\'t tried it with the new updates yet so I will say nothing about that. What I am going to tell you is that there is a way to make your favorites save properly so that you dont have to add them every single time. All you have to do is go to servers in your steam menu. then hit change filters(if you don\'t already have that open). Then write above the button that says add a server there is a little box that says anticheat on the side of it. Change the setting in that little box from all to secure. Then finally restart steam and you will probably be able to save your favorites again TADA! Its magic. I almost quit CS source because I could not save my favorites but I searched there help section on there site and found this helpful fix.

Grr I have to disagree with you on both of your points here. While the new radar system does mean that you cannot hide like a whimpering coward behind a door or a wall stealth is not what counterstrike is all about. It is more about the incredible fun you can have with the huge gunfights that erupt in game. You also have to realize that Valve would not have made either of these changes if enough of the players hadn't requsted it. I myself have encountered numerous players commenting in game on how the p90 was to powerful.

yeah, the prices are really not any good. Thank god not many servers took em'. The first cs i played was cs 1.1 and after that i have played all of them and those new prices are a bad idea, but if some server takes the change there are still others that do it in the oldways...

most servers (well, Australian ones) dont have DWP on - you can turn it off with the command mp_dynamic pricing (set it to 0 and then changelevel)
