You know what I'm talking about. All those video game characters that carry 10 guns, 3 rocket launchers, 4 swords, 7 bombs, and a breath mint, yet none of it ever shows.
I once zoomed out to 3rd person on Morrowind and found out that your character sheathes their sword in their thigh, but other than that there really is no explanation.
I mean look at Link from the Zelda franchise. He carries 30 bombs, up to 3 swords, 50 arrows, up to 999 in cash, up to 3 changes of clothes, a grapling hook, up to 5 bottles, usually a large hammer, up to 3 shields, a boomerang, an instrument of some sort, a bow, and then a few more odds and ends that just so happen to come in handy at the moment. Then he walks around with a light airy 'pitter-patter' instead of a 'CLONK!-jangle-jangle', that aint right
WHERE
DOES HE PUT IT ALL!
A lesser example would be Master Chief from Halo (though I'm sure there are far better FPS examples). He can be carrying 8 grenades (presumably the size of his fist), a rocket launcher WITH 8 ADDITIONAL rounds of ammo, and a long sniper rifle with 24 additional rounds of ammo. HE SHOULD LOOK LIKE A BLOATED, WALKING BOMB! Yet he maintains his dashing figure and not a single ounce of TN-FRIGG'N "T" can be spotted on his person. THOSE ROCKET ROUNDS ARE HUGE, THEY'D WEIGH DOWN A MALE SILVER BACK GORILLA! But somehow he manages to carry them with ease and still be able to jump incredible distances and heights.
I think they've been taking lessons from shoplifters
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Its called 'Hammerspace'; a virtual space where anything can be stored; ANYWHERE.
Since hammers and mallets are more commonly used, it is thus called HAMMERspace. Not ROCKETcpace. ^^
I think that in video games the main character actually has a lackey that never appears on screen. He carries all the stuff that the character isn't currently using, and when they need somehting the lackey pack mule comes by.
If you subscribe to my group of friend's way of thinking, they magically store all the massive amounts of equipment they have in their lower large intestine. **OUCH**
Maybe they have Merlin's suitcase from the Sword in the Stone.
*starts to hum the melody from "Higitus, Figitus"*
It's called a 'Magic Pocket' as far as i know. it goes in and only comes out when needed/prompted.
Oh for pity's sake, I'm not kidding:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammerspace
Whoa ok ok! rofl. it's just what i've heard it called in the past!
You are refering to Doraemon's Magic Pocket...
Hammerspace's a more techinal term now.
Doraemon ftw!
ok. i'll be sure to keep that in mind for future reference.
a alternative universe maybe, I just saw a demon like kid who is a overlord, his weapon is an tremendous meteor, where else hi can get that?
a magic bag?
Everybodies pockets seem to be infinate?! Monster hunter, a prime example. You can carry a bbq spit, complete with roaring fire in you're back pocket? o_O
Well, I posted this on IGN once actually, about where Link keeps all his stuff...
Not the exact words, I don't feel like searching for my post, it was years ago...
"Link has a dimensional warp hole in his butt. That is why he reaches back to get his stuff. That is also why he never needs to poo, too."
Makes one wonder, doesn't it? Where does one guy put a shield, sword, 99 of every item, a raft and an airship?
I like DarthTofu's theory ^_^ Sounds painful, but fun enough 8p
Another example for you to think about
In the Sonic the Hedgehog series, you collect rings. None of the male characters wears any clothing (except eggman), yet, they can collect and hold up to 999 rings (maybe even 9999 depending on which game).
Also in MMOs as well as other RPGs, characters can hold thousands of potions (me being one of then .-.), as well as rare drops (these usually being large weapons).
Have you ever play grim fandango?
