I live in Canada, and I noticed that unless it's a private school....most
schools don't have uniforns. My teacher was talking about getting some....so
there would be no bullying and stuff...what do you think?
Here where I live there are uniforms regardless of going to a private or public
school. It just makes everyone equal and the school neat and tidy. As for
bullying, uniforms won't eliminate that, (it could to some extent, for instance
inter-school bullying- you can get busted if you're recognised by your uniform
and eliminates those who get teased about what they wear...)
I say probably because of how I grew up (with uniforms and seeing everyone else
in them), I think that uniforms are a good idea. I don't really see anything
wrong with uniforms unless you are a person who hates looking like the others,
or hate the uniform in general :P
Having delt with both uniformed and non-uniformed schools, I can safely
say:
It would probably be for the best. The only problem I have is the fact that
dress shoes are a real b!tch to put on. It's also a good thing because if you
wake up late for school, you don't need to worry about what clothing your
exactly wearing. Just need to grab what looks like your shirt + pants, etc. and
go from there.

Here in Brazil too... uniforms for public or particular to... (well, ok, nothng
like this RBD fashion we have been seen around, or colegials in japan...)
...
ANd I also agree that it's a good idea too.. after all, we are in a school, not
in a fashion catwalk... or something like that...
agrees with Ultimaninja... uniforms provide the convinence of not needing to
worry about what to wear to school... in where i lived, if im not wrong... all
public schools have uniforms...
and i personally feel that the pockets of jeans are too small... and my hands
often gets stuck in my pockets when i want to pull the item out of my pocket.. i
used to carry snacks in my pockets back when i'm still in uniform...
back to the topic, i also feel that uniforms gives a sense of identity too..
I have to be against uniforms in public schools. In fact, I'd be against them
for private schools too. I suppose I just don't see the point in regulating
someone's clothing that much. One of the great things about college, I feel, is
the fact that I can roll out of bed and go to class in my sushi pajamas without
anyone caring. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but I want to wear what I want to wear.
I don't want to be told that I have to wear some stiff collared shirt and a
pleated skirt by some 40year-olds on a school board. ESPECIALLY if girls HAVE to
wear skirts, and don't have the option of pants. While I personally have never
attended a school with uniforms, I have spent some time in Japan and tried my
host-sister's stuff on, and they were rather uncomfortable. It could be
different in other countries, other schools, but what is the point in wearing
something uncomfortable in the first place? If you have to wear something
uncomfortable, it should be your own self subjecting yourself to that, not a
third party.
I'm not a fashion queen or anything, but I rather enjoy being able to wear
clothes that I've found, bought, or made. It's just one of the little fun things
in life, and when you're in high school, every little fun thing is useful.
Uniforms won't stop bullying or teasing--people who bully and tease just get
more inventive and personal about it: they won't stop just due to a costume
change. And there is one more issue: school uniforms tend to be on the expensive
side. I don't want my parents to have to dole out a couple hundred bucks for
some suits I'll never wear after high school.
Really? I would like to have uniforms at my school. I guess everybody has a
different opinion in this situation, but personally, I think that if there were
uniforms at my school, you wouldn't have to worry about being different than
others, but that's just my opinion~
Uniforms do promote equality and makes everything seem neat. I would like a
uniform, just a personalized kind that you buy from school. People don't like
uniforms much sometimes because they can't wear that cute tank top that they
spent a lot on that weekend to school. Well, Clothing does show style. Uniforms
are cool though.

Sure is...
I think it solves a lot of problems around here: in some cities with high
poverty ratings (oh well, point one town in Brasil that don't have that
problem...) some mayors and politicians give the uniforms to poor families. We
can see a good thing in this initiative cause the families won't have to spend
that much money buying unecessary clothing and spend a lot of money with water..
It can seem a bit 'oh my what's he saying', but once you see the stuation of
some comunities around here you'll want to buy the uiforms youselves...
Also that is a way to make children o to school, cause a lot of mothers complain
that they don't have the money to buy the clothings, so the goverment gives the
uniforma, takes and bring them from school, give the families a raise in
monetary issues and distribute food regularly to families that let their kids go
to a classroom...
Yeh, i like uniforms. Doesnt make me have to think of what to wear..plus its not
uncomfortable..maybe if we could wear non school pants..jeans...cargos etc would
be better.
*sigh* I really want uniforms, but the population of kids in my school
don't....they say they just want to be "free", that's a good point...i
guess...?
I'd say definetly and absolutely not. The student should be allowed to wear
whatever they want, it expresses their individuality. It would be so boring if
everyone wore the same clothes. Not only that but don't most girl uniforms
involve skirts? Personally I think I would die if I went to a highschool where
they made people wear uniforms, and girls wear those skirts. I hate wearing
skirts mainly for the fact that I think my legs are huge *despite what ppl say*
and having them exposed would bring my self-esteem down even more then it
already is. I would have to say its the same for many others..maybe not for some
(like girls who REALLY shouldn't wear skirts =__=''). I went to a non-uniform
high school luckily..mainly 'cuz public schools in America don't make ppl wear
uniforms..at least most of them don't, and hopefully it'll stay that way *not
that I'm in high school anymore so I guess it doesn't matter :3*
Lol... well... dunno about bullying, but I agree with kuroimisa. I am from a
country where everyone pretty much wears uniforms. And yes, you can tell which
school you are from by your uniform. In my country, your name is also displayed
on your shirt. So, it will cut down cutting school and going to the mall,
inter-school bullying, etc. But aside from that, just normal bullying and such
will still go on. Trust me.
Wearing uniforms can be good. You don't have to worry about what to wear in the
morning, hmmm... well, that's it, really, lol. I mean, some rich students will
still try to modify the uniform themselves... Like using silk instead of cotton
blouse, or shortening or lengthening the skirts depending on the trend, etc.
Another good thing is, if you can still fit into the uniform 10 years later,
that could be quite kinky.
The downside is that, well... as said by kristina1234u, it oppresses the
individual expression. And of course, in countries where you don't get given
uniforms for free, it's extra expense on you.
I like uniforms, but sometimes, they make a person look way weird.
Bullying is quite common actually, even if there is a fierce disciplinary head in
the school, some daredevils wont care and just continue with what they
do.
Uniforms are indeed money saving rather than normal casual clothes that you wear
for outings,so yup,i think school should wear uniforms.
uniform = buying.... poor people can't buy uniforms.... poor people go to public
schools (not only poor people, but most poor people don't go to private)....
thus NO UNIFORMS.
it's more a logistical thing than anything else i think.
I don't think uniforms should be made a requirement in public school unless the
school or state are going to supply them for free and of decent quality (aka,
not trash that's falling apart at the seams). If you want your school to have
uniforms then you've been watching too many school animes, enroll in a private
school if you really have to satisfy your urge.
I don't see how bullying has anything to do with uniforms. If a kid is emo or
goth, you'll know they're emo or goth regardless of what they're wearing, same
with sports players and hardcore videogamers.
Hahaha, believe it or not,i got bullied and became a joke because i look too
weird in my uniform.
But during the "Be Yourself Day",i dress out in my normal casual
outing wear. And the class was pretty much shock at how different i look from my
nerdy looks in school to a punkish person.
boojitsu: i dont think money really comes into the equation much, as i'd imagine
all schools would have a uniform store and 2nd hand clothes seems a bit bleh but
it is a cheaper option rather than forking out a heap, specially if you just
transferred to the school and in last year for the school as well so hardly
seems worth the investment, of course thats just an option, plus there would be
places where you could get the clothes cheaper :p
Also uniforms are a way of representing your school, and also with uniforms you
have less to worry about what to wear, and everyone has the same so you really
cant nitpick people clothes wise, unless they have holes or something :p
I've been going to a pivate school since 5th grade, and yes, we had to wear
uniform. So I know the uniform deal. Ours was a white shirt, black skirts, and
Black shoes, blazers with school logo x__X, and(shudder) a tacky tie. But in
private schools, its not just rich preps that wear uniform, ya know..
>___> Schools in england.. public and private, all have to wear uniform..
it doesn't really cost that much lol. If your parents are in income support, you
get them for free by the government.. You'll have to learn to to start dressing
to a dress policy in life. It's like learning to look both ways before you cross
the street; it's instilled. The real world doesn't care. And bullying didn't
even occur to me tbh lol.. o.O;;
This uniform thing was debated so much in my school between the teachers and
students. It was crazy. I understand uniforms but then they come up with new
rules and enforcing smaller details like "you must have a belt", or
"the socks must be above the ankle" or " you can't roll up your
sleeves" and "shirts must be tucked in" then it starts to get
annoying.. 0_0
Uniforms are a good thing. A very good thing indeed.
1) They 100% eradicate bullying based on fashion.
2) You have no chance of being late by taking too long selecting your own
clothes. ;]
3) They're mighty useful for identification on school trips.
4) Not every uniform is butt-ugly.
5) Expressing yourself through clothing is not really much of an issue in
schools, to be honest.

I'm undecided. But you'd better not let an engineer make the decision, or you'll end up in one of these.

Tyvek Disposable Coveralls. I've actually never worn one. LOL sometimes I wonder if we'll be seeing these on airlines someday.
$2 - $4 each, in quantities of 25.

I live in Venezuela and uniforms are obligatory for both public and private schools.
Over here in Australia my public school had to wear uniform but it was pretty casual uniform. Just black pants and a button shirt.
