I find albinos very interesting and well... an object for desire. You may find
me weird but I like exotic hair and eye colours and I like natural things so
there you have it. No hair colouring no contacts, natural white hair and natrual
red eyes (well unatural errr condition). But I have to feel sorry for them.
During the earlier stages of albino life, they are discriminated for not being
normal and that usually develops into fear of people.
I wonder if I will ever find an albino girl?
How about you guys. I mean, I found Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis strikling and
mysteriously sexy. Well it may just be e who likes albinos.
Technically, no. Rei has naturally blue hair, perfect vision, and appears to be
unaffected by sunlight. Albinoes are extremely sensitive to sunlight due to
their lack of pigmentation, thus their skin is easily sunburnt and they are
blinded by even minute amounts of light. The eyesight of some albinoes also
tends to degrade rapidly, resulting in severe myopia and near-blindness early on
in life.
Pale/fair skin and red eyes are extremely common in anime characters. While
these traits are certainly consistent with symptoms of albinism, note that there
are very few albino anime/manga characters around. And while these traits are
often noted as being among Rei's most striking features, they may be observed in
at least one character in every other anime/manga.
I personally do not think that albinism confers any added degree of allure or
mystique upon a person. Granted, I (and many others, i believe) do find that
women are more attractive when they have fair skin, but in many cases the tone
resulting from albinism would be more aptly described as sickly pale than
'fair'.
I do not believe that characters such as Rei are attractive due solely to their
albino/albino-like traits, but rather that their feature (i.e. face shape) or
personalities are merely complemented by pale skin, red eyes, white/bleached
hair, etc.
Examples of actual albinoes in anime/manga are Misaki from the manga and OVA
Teizokurei Daydream (Vulgar Ghost Daydream) and Haine from the manga Dogs.
Note: To fear or discriminate against albinoes is utterly ridiculous. Their
condition is purely genetic and cannot be passed on to others, whether by
contact or fluid exchange, nor is it a form of karmic punishment or divine
curse. To believe any such nonsense makes one an incompetent, ignorant, bigotted
cad. Any offspring they have, especially when the other parent is non-albino,
are extremely unlikely to suffer from albinism. Aside from their susceptibility
to bright lights, they possess mental and physical prowess identical to other
humans.

Hm...Rei Ayaniami is undoubtedly very hot, but is she really albino?
