It seems that there are quite a few threads in the Chat Lounge that serves no
particular purpose except for spamming, getting post-count, and hence credits.
Here are three in the main page:
I have no idea what policy MT operates, but I hate to see any forum get spammed
up by threads such as these, especially if people gain credits this way. If
people don't, then it's more acceptable, as there's no incentive to reply to
silly threads. I understand that forcing the raise of quality of posts will
certainly alienate some, if not a majority, of users; so perhaps preventing
credit gain in such forums is the best approach.
I think I've spent too long at Gamingforce and SomethingAwful...
Hm...actually yes. The Chat Lounge has a different set of rules as far as know.
(this maybe is not true) I had always thought that the post that are make on the
Chat Lounge doesn't count for the post counter...so this way people will not
gain credits for spamming.
That's what i believe, but it seems that the post counter raises when you post
on useful threads, example, the sandbox

I'm satisfied. Can an admin/mod please confirm?
Confirmed.
Chat Lounge is a "free zone", if you will, regarding our spamming
regulations. In order for this to be fair posts made at that section won't give
any credits. Also posts in the Chat Lounge are not penalized, if you remember
correctly, posts that don't comply with our communities requirements instead of
giving credits take them away.

Very well, then if people wish to waste their time then so be it.
