Well, the title says it, today, 29 of December, 2006, at 6am, Bhagdad time,
Saddam Hussein died exectued by hanging.I personally think he did deserve it for
his many crimes against humantiy. Even though he deserved it I believe the
decision was too fast., too unexpected. Now in terms of international politics,
I think the decision was extremely biased, but correct nontheless...
What do you peeps think is going to happen now? How are Hussein followers going
to react? Do you think the death penalty was really worth it? Do you think it
was correct to condemn/trial him?
Hussein is dead?!?!?!?! I didn't know that. well in my opinion i don't care
about him. so the followers of Sadam could be very mad and continue the
terrorists atack or they'll stop because they don't have someone to lead them
(but that chance would be very, very low). well Sadam still deserves death by
hanging because he's a dictator that treated his own people so badly.
Well, I am not a particularly big fan of the death penalty (actually I think its
probably one of the most barbaric forms of punishment but I will admit that it
does make for a decent deterrent) but I do think that there are a few people in
this world that the world will be better without. I don't necessarily mean kill
them but incarcerate them for the remainder of their natural lives and limit
their contact in order to limit any possible influence of the outside world.
I agree the decision was way to fast. I don't like death penaltyes. Besides
there is something going on . I wouldn't like it to be true but i suspect that
the trial wasn't a fair one.
He was judged and sentenced by his own people, therefore the decision is
correct.
Their justice system works faster than most. I personally find it to work quite
well. I wish they were more strict over here in Europe, and in the US. Steal
something? Get your hands chopped off. Works miracles.
I think it was a fair decision. I mean, his actions in Iraq have clearly made
many people suffer and if there was a decision to let him live, it wouldn't be
fair to the families who had to suffer because of Saddam. Just my thoughts...
hmm i dunno what to say about this but its just my opinion and we cant change
anything right! 1st i agree with u about this happend fast and not only that,
they did that in our Eid " i'm a Moslem"! i really hate to see people
die here and there with a reason or without it.to be clear i hate people when
they play GOD! so maybe he deserve what happend to him but not in that way .. if
i'm not wrong they did that coz he killed around 150 people right?! look now
everyday in Baghdad over 100 people everyday die. so at least we cant say that
the reason y they killed him its just a crazy reason.. 2nd he was a good leader!
u have no idea how its hard to lead in Iraq ITS ALMOST IMPPOSSIBLE but he was
the only one who've done that with less problems but look now the problems
getting worst and everything is out ov control theres no safety no life just
nothing, and last but not least he was a leader and its a shame to a leader to
die this way without having his own rights!
this is my opinion and i'm sorry if i say smthing u didnt like ... nothing
personal ^_^ peace V
Suddam Hussein was NOT a good leader. A good leader does not murder 150 people
just because a man from their village tried to assasinate him. A good leader
does not commit genocide against entire races (Kurds, Marsh Arabs, etc.) simply
because a number of their populations attempted coups. To be fair, he is
directly responsible for the modernisation of Iraq and was a competent, if not
effective, leader during the early years following his ascension. However, the
so-called peace he maintained in Iraq was no different from that in countries
such as Myanmar and Colonial-era Africa, where ethnic strife is/was kept in
check through brutality and genocidal repercussions. The current situation in
Iraq is due more to the ineffectiveness of its government and the sheer
inaptitude of the US in handling of the invasion and peacekeeping. Suddam
Hussein was a poor examp[le of a human being and he deserved death, if not one
even more painful and humiliating than the hanging he received.
I would love to see someone lead Iraq without killing anyone. Its impossible.
Nationalism combined with the way territories were drawn - with no regard for
ethnicity or religion - after WWI makes it pretty damn hard to control the
people. When the people are divided among many ethnic groups, that like killing
other ethnic groups, you need to find a greater external enemy to distract them
from their internal enemies. Or, eliminate all but one ethnic group (I believe
they call it "ethnic cleansing"). Obviously, the minority groups
really don't want these kinds of people in charge, so it causes plenty of
political turmoil. The only thing that can keep everything under control is a
brutal dictator that has no problem making examples out of people. Not saying,
of course, that everyone in Iraq wants to kill everyone else, but enough people
do that its a major problem.
My point? Iraq is screwed up, with or without Saddam. Its going to take a lot
more than his death to fix things.

well u said this right,if u notice any leader would do that if someone tried to
assassinate him like now in USA why the war was started its bcz they thought
that Baghdad is a big dangerous on the USA right? thats how it works thats their
rules if u r a leader u would do the same so that no one try to do that again
with u
i'm not saying that wow he is a gr8 man, or he is a gr8 leader but he was able
to lead Iraqi people and he gave him "for sm ov them at least" a good
place to live but now look the war all over it and no one can stay there to live
well lets hope everything get better now ^_^ for them and us
happy new year
Mystefyre, you can't just say all the governments and people there are all
violent, saying something like seeing someone lead iraq without killing anyone
is just way to overboard, iraq is screwed up? the people there have there own
ways and we have ours. judging different cultures in the way you are isn't
right, the way you saying it is just another way of saying americans are good
and iraqy's are terrorists, and some people are just doing it from anger, i have
seen many topics in MT judging muslims and saying that muslims are terrorists,
there are two types of christians, the slow age christian who take things
peacefully and the dark-age christian who try to overtake other religions at
there at there own will, it also depends on the country, the bombing in london
was caused by fresh home-grown-terrorists, this could of been avoided if the
people were treated respectfully, thats just what i think...
i personally don't feel anything wrong with Saddam recieving the death sentence.
Saddam's excecution i probably much better than the excecution of those whom
Saddam sentenced to death, videos shown a couple of years ago show Saddam
excecuting his prisoners by blowing them apart. and i don't think Saddam has
given them a 'fair' trial either.
and i personally feel that whats 'fair' and 'unfair' is a perception, whats
'fair' to you may be 'unfair' to someone, and whats 'unfair' to you may be
'fair' to someone.
