[ps: Sorry if my language not's so good, i'm not really english, I'm french so.]

Hello everybody, I don't know if the name of Wendigo say something to someone. But I do some research and this is always the same thing. If I come here to talk about Wendigo, to know if someone thinks that he seen a real Wendigo or something like that.
-------------------------------------------

Let me explain what is a Wendigo canadien;

Native American versions of the creature spoke of a giant Spirit, over fifteen feet tall. The Wendigo is usually described to have glowing eyes, large yellow fangs and long tongues. Some Wendigos are said to be covered from head to toe with hair and has a yellowish skin. One story says the creature can only be seen head-on, because it is too thin to be seen from the side. Wendigo has a very large appetite for human flesh.

They describe it rather generically as a werewolf, devil, or cannibal. The Wendigo was usually presumed to have once been human. Different origins of the Wendigo are described in variations of the myth. A hunter may become the Wendigo when encountering it in the forest at night, or when becoming possessed by its spirit in a dream. When the cannibalistic element of the myth is stressed, it is assumed that anyone who eats corpses in a famine becomes a Wendigo as a result.

Perhaps this myth was used as a deterrent and cautionary tale among northern tribes whose winters were long and bitter and whose hunting parties often were trapped in storms with no recourse but to consume members of their own party. It could be indicative of starvation that the Wendigo is said to consume moss and other unpalatable food when human flesh is unavailable. Its physical deformities are suggestive of starvation and frostbite, so the Wendigo may be a myth based on a personification of the hardships of winter and the taboo of cannibalism.

In some stories a Wendigo will follow a lone wanderer for a long time. When the prey becomes suspicious and turns around the Wendigo always manages to get out of sight by hiding behind a tree. After a while the followed person starts to become hysterical and runs until he makes an error. The Wendigo then strikes. If someone actually survives a Wendigo attack they get the Wendigo-fever: after a night of nightmares and pain in their legs--indeed, the Wendigo itself often has no feet--Wendigo-fevered people strip themselves naked and run into the forest screaming.

I don't know if that really exist, but I think then my sis seen that creature, I explain. I live in Canada, Quebec, we live in that time in the north of Quebec, a little village in the forest. That was winter, in this time we are live to 5 minutes of my grand-mother house, and my sis was here. But when she comeback to home, she always feel like someone observe her, but she was only think about wolfe or bear. She never thing about a weird creature, that was the night, maybe 3:00 am or 2:00 am. She walk quicken, because she have a weird feeling. She don't know why but she look to see if a car was in the interception, she never seen a car, but this weird THING. She say that it's was really high, that's was white, the skin was like latex, it's have a big red eyes and I really big mouth, too big, that thing smiling to her, like a devil, she always see this big mouth with big thoot like a shark, she say that it's mouth was so big then it's can eat her head with one bite. For her the time was stopped, she was face to face with this monster. But that thing have a weird position, like if it's run and just stopped to scare her. When he dissapered, she was scared , but she never run to the home, she walk quicken to the home.

I don't know if she only imagine that, but if she imagine, she surely seen a wolfe, because she just think about this creature, not to a monster like that, in this time I never know what was a Wendigo, she say me this story the last day, in that time she haved 17 years old, now she have 19 years old.

But what she seen are really similar to a Wendigo, I don't know if that really exist, I hope not, but many think in this world doesn't have answer. If something like that was a happen to you, she say me here. I'm really interesting in this things, jsut tell me, thank. But if you don't believe in that, just don't tell me, you can believe me or not.

[I just hope that was okay for this forum. I don't really know where I can make this post.]

Very interesting story, unfortunately I don't know anything about Wendigo. However it would appear that she most likely saw a wolf. Poor visibility at night plus common fear of walking alone at night can easily distort what she actually saw. The physical and behavioral description of the creature really sound like it was a Canadian white wolf.

Yeah but in that place we doesn't have white wolf, wolf yeah, but not white, and why did was on is two foot? A wolf will never be so high... And this monster or this thing that she saw, don't be like a wolf, that was similar to a human, but very more ugly with red eyes and big mouth, and that thing doesn't have fur. So I don't think that she saw a canadien white wolf,in this time we living in forest, but not in the very cold place, anyway thanx for you comments and you idea^^ very interesting hehe

i think they had a wendigo on supernatural [the tv show] once. i believe it came about because it eats human flesh and then gets super powers because of it. seems a shame that that's the only way i know of something like this.

Yeah I see this tv show^^ yeah that was a wendigo. thx for the comments hehe. But they don't give many information about wendigo...
