Everyone says not to complain about school because once your in university,
college or just the work force in general, is when it really gets hard and
stressful. If all that is true, can someone please explain to me what the point
of life after highschool is?
I'm in grade 10 and achieve mostly 80 and above, so it's not that I'm some loser
drugee with nothing better to do...it's just that I currently have no ambitions
and feel like I'm running out of time and I don't see the point of all the work
and stress following me around everywhere until I'm too old to use all the money
I've gained.
Highschool is like training you to be punctual (on time) and learn to socialize,
among other useless things ... I found it the opposite for me, I learned more
outside of highschool. Work is very different, what's the point you ask? I find
that after highschool you gain more responsibility, independence and confidence.
You can do a whole lot more with your life .... It's not ALL about work, I know
it is what you'll mostly be doing. Society requires we have money in order to
buy food, clothes, shelter, etc .. But seriously, don't get all sad about it,
because you'll find yourself to be more free, and experience different things
other than work work and more work.
The respondsiblities is stronger and more work is to help u in the future i also
felt that way but as u grow older you can see frm a different view and u will
understand why ..
Try to disstressed your self and try ways to make ur job easier for u ok ?
LOL What's the point in life after HS? I'm in 10th grade too, so we have
something to relate to...
Look, EVERYONE has stress and has to do a lot of hard work, and at one point or
another, we pause and think; what am I doing here? or WHY am I here?
Finish high school (i don't know u, but you can do better than than 80's), then
finish college with a nice degree in whatever strikes your fancy, then get a
solid job. Eventually, you'll retire with a nice family and a nice retirement
home to relax and look back to all you've accomplished.
You can't let the stress get to you, take some time to explore and find yourself
a dream and go for it. Without a goal now, then I agree with you in saying
there's no point. I went through the same phase, but things never last forever
and eventually you'll find something to aim for and see the reason in life after
high school.
I was also an audience of the whole "enjoy life while you can - this is the
best years of your life" This bullcr@p is made up by adults who covet the
days free of responsibilities, free time and general fun. The best years of MY
life were late highschool and university - where I still am. I may have to work
harder now and under more pressure, but I had more anxieties at school than now.
I enjoy my life. Ans so should you.
Listen to the advise of your elders ^_^ Your best years are still comming.
Well, it depends on you ¿What do you want for the rest of your
life?
I want to be a musician, so I'm studying to understand how it works. I'll never
stop studying music. The point is that I don't want to find a point. Now I'm
here, I'll do what I want to do for the rest of my life, untill I'm not here
anymore.
having your studies is a foundation for your work-to-be. If you do not have
plans in the near future, then don't study college. [you can still get a job
with a status of highschool graduate] but don't expect something big from it
[unless, you're wise in handling money and business or you're one crafty
person].
as for me, My highschool purpose for me, is to learn something that would help
me accademically and also for my growth as an individual.
hey looks like we're on the same boat and we're about the same grade too lol
hmmm nice question 'cause I dont have any ambitions either lol but just live
life as it is. There's always more things and opportunities to od new stuff once
you're older.
High school...hmm...it's my last year in my beloved school, well I've already got
an aim in life but accomplishing it is hard, let it go naturally you'll
eventually find an ambition that goes with you. Don't ask people about what's
the point, find it yourself, thats what everyone is living for, finding the point
of life and live it.
Geez, I could've wrote this thread. I know exactly what you mean. I finished
university last January, and I'm currently working as a secretary. However, I
really don't like my work, but on the other hand I don't know what I
dó want. So after a lot of sleepless nights I decided today that
I'm gonna quit working and go back to school. Don't know if I'm going to regret
that, though...
Well, to go short: there is no point in life, it's all just one piece of *** No
no, just kidding! Your time in high school is just the absolute best, so you've
just gotta make something good out of it. And I know how difficult it is to
decide what you want to become, so good luck and follow your heart!
Do you have a dream career or something that what you suppose to have and if you
dont have one I will tell you to start looking for it when you have a chance
that is when you will find a job and something that you like and dont be all
depressed when you go to work or something.
its my last year of high school too and i have no idea what im gunna do. i
always figured that i would go to college but i have no idea where to get the
money, so i guess all i can do is find a crappy job to pay the bills like the
rest of my family. and as for my dream job, well i think demon hunting would be
a difficult career to pursue, ha ha ha.
goddamnit that's a hard one
... What's the point in life ?!
a friend of mine says it's : " paying your taxes "
no, really )
i know this feeling...
i've been told so many times: "you're a kid, you have no worries, enjoy it
while it lasts"
- then me thinking : "oh, really? 8-| you're kidding me ..."
THE POINT IN LIFE IS TO BE HAPPY (or happier)
... but i don't know how you can get there :-/
learn something that you care about (college/university)
do a freaking job (something to do) that makes you happy
-or at least one that doesn't make you unhappy
live with someone that makes you happy
Well unfortunately for those still in high school, how happy or content you are
depends on factors somewhat out of your control. Such as family matters, which
school you go to, how easily you cope with your subjects, how nice your teachers
are, the boys/girls in your year group and school, etc etc etc, none of which
you can readily change without causing more trouble that it is worth.
Now depending on which country/state your are in and the education system there,
your next couple of years may be better. If you get to choose which subjects you
do over the next 2~3 yrs then my suggestion would be to first choose what you
are good at, and then what you like/enjoy doing.
For example, I went to a private school in NSW, Australia and for my HSC (the
education systems final exams before uni/etc) I chose the subjects that I was
good at (hence naturally enjoyed) so therefore didn't have to study strenuously
for my tests/exams (but still studied very very hard for my final exams ). In
addition, all of my teachers were nice people. They were good teachers (ie they
could actually teach... it is horrible when they can't ) but
were also fun (told jokes in class, kept the subject entertaining,
etc).
Also I got along fine with everyone in my year and no one had any particular
grudge against me so peers added no stress to my time in high school. I had
found a group of friends that I got along with very well so my social life was
happy. I was doing well in school (without trying was
sleeping in class and still scoring 80s~90s ) so my
parents couldn't complain.
So looking back... they were really great years of my life...
That was last year . This is
my first year in uni and... life got better . I got into
the course I wanted and you get SOOO much free time in uni...
But rounding it back to the original question... for now, you're in year 10. You
can't really control what is going on around you for now so if you are feeling
stressed, you can't actually do anything about it . But bare
with it, try to do well in your studies (or sports too if your in America I
heard~) because the better you do, the easier it is to get into the uni/college
you want to in the future.
It is important to remember that this is just a part of your life... a small
section of 3 more years... just try to make the best you can of it. Life goes
on, you'll be out of school before you know it. You'll have responsibilities and
"life" to worry about once you leave (or "escape", whichever
may be the case) your parents .
My suggestion is try to keep your parents happy and off your back and enjoy
something... anything... anime for instance ... or
improving something (a life skill preferably) and be happy that you aren't in
some poverty stricken state . Always
remember there must be people worse off than you and you'll feel better
IF you don't know what your purpose in life is it will be hard. But remember
there is no need to worry as they is also something else you can do. So remember
"what ever happens, happens"
They don't neccessarily have to better or worse they are just different. A piece
of advice would be to start concentrating on things (of a professional nature)
you likeor would like to do. Trust me, as longs as you like your job, things are
pretty good. If you don't like your job start making plans to try something
else. You've got a pretty good amount of time to prepare provided you go though
college so don't stress over it too much.
Point of high school, to prepare you. For what? Supposedly life. University and
college is a place where you can attend or not, it's up to you but success is
how hard you work toward it and your persistence.
Actually, the point of high school is how you see it. If you think everything is
useless, then i guess the point is to live a relaxed life of doing your own
thing.
Grade 10, nice, grade 11 is it now? If things haven't changed, then do whatever
you want. It is your choice, you can work or just do nothing but think of it
this way.
If you work hard to something you like, you will succeed and eat, meet people,
do fun things and stuff like that.
If you want to go druggie or just slack off and live life like it is all fun and
games, where does your food come from?
be happy with what you got.... its all parta growin up ... all subconciously too
if you don't see it =)... its the environment too social groups and such you
know... once you go to college there really isn't much of a change.. but the
social group grows vastly.. and the responsibilities you gain are more vast...
go to uni... the things just widespread even more.. social groups connect bigger
now to bigger companies to other schools..... workload and such in school will
be more closer to what you will deal with soon.. its all growing up and training
really...... enjoy it while you can..... then when you finish... and work hits
!... it basically the end =/....... you do your job everyday gets boring well no
you enjoy it if you picked the right career and such... and well you can go back
to school if you want i don't know
personally... i envy you who is still in highschool =/.... uni can get pretty
lame sometimes but its also fun cause its more vast
In my view, I found that High School/Secondary school had the following
purposes:
1) To make you think more discrete
2) Expanding one's own knowledge about various facts around the world
3) To learn more languages for your own disposal and use
4) To form the foundation knowledge which in turn you can use to further studies
of interest in University, IF you go to University. EG: Biology in High school,
Dentistry/Medicine/Osteopath/etc in University.
Everyone says not to complain about school because once your in university, college or just the work force in general, is when it really gets hard and stressful. If all that is true, can someone please explain to me what the point of life after highschool is?

I've heard from a teacher once that once you leave high school, you forget everything you learn in there and learn everything all over again. Kinda.
