Call me apathetic if you want to, but as far as I'm concerened you can do what
you want on the internet - assuming of course that you don't harm or annoy
people that don't want to be harmed or annoyed. I myself aren't reading or
participating on threads like the one you gave, firstly because this one isn't
touching anywhere NEAR my interests. I wouldn't have discovered it if you
haven't passed it on. My second reason is that it is way to shallow. I only read
enough to get the general gist of the topics.
To question the freedom of the internet is, IMO, like questioning freedom in the
real world. Its a free country, freedom of speech and all that stuff. If a
community is established that likes stuff like this then let them be. Unless of
course if they start to go public to such an extent that everyone has to see it
whether they like it or not.
If you and your friends gossip on chat, do you want to be censored because you
are misusing the alleged freedom of the internet?
Just to make sure - your complaint is about a JPop message board where fans talk
about wanking? Now, either I missed something or you haven't seen enough of the
net. Go visit some of the smut sites mentioned (or rather, don't) and then
rethink your question on freedom...
Anyway, most communities are administered and these admins set a few basic rules
by which the members must abide if they want to stay members (just like our own
beloved MT admins). So unless you create your own website you can never be truly
completely free - you are always tied down with some rules or
regulations.
And if it bothers you, don't go there. Rather visit sites you enjoy than ponder
sites you don't aprove of.
Agreed I know there is worse out there trust me but this is just how I feel. And
its mostly cause there are doin this to someone who I think is cool people's and
I'm just tired of all the fighting and shit that goes on but meh nothing left to
do but move on
This thread could have generated some interesting discussion on the nature of
intellectual debate via the internet and the degree to which one ought be free
to express views. But since you deleted your original post, this thread is now
useless.
please delete thank you
