i haven't been posting in lamentations in a long time, and i wasn't planning on
posting in here for a while because i tried to find ways to get rid of
depression, and it worked. anyway, while i was feeling a bit relieved, another
problem came up:
and it goes like this: about a 3-4 weeks ago, i've been having almost non-stop
nightmares but at first, i just ignored them. but around the last 2 weeks, 2 of
those dreams came true.
1.i had a dream when i was in a car accident and then last week, i had an
accident and my right arm was almost completly impaled by a sharp piece of wood.
but my arm should be back to normal in about 2 months or so.
2.i had a dream where my mother died of a heart attack, and yesterday she REALLY
was in the emergency room because she had a heart attack the night before
that.
and in the meantime, i'm getting EXTREMELY pissed off and now i might be going
back to my old, depressed self again. i'm worried that my mother might die, and
that if this keeps up, other bad things will happen. i hope i'm not the only one
that had their nightmares come true. i just need a few opinions, advice, or
something.
Sorry about what happened to your mother and your arm.....
Well I can't help you cuz.... I can't even see you face to face
LIfe is just..... too much for us humans to handle....
...... I don't know..... I'm also depressed
Sorry.... I'm truely sorry

each one step by step.
that's what i'm doing now- fighting it. i could care less about my arm right
now, but typing with one hand on a laptop sucks. if it's one thing i learned, it
was how to deal with stuff. but the fact that someone else was hurt and could be
killed, that's a big problem. i was starting to blame myself for what happened,
and sometimes i won't even go to sleep just because i don't want to risk seeing
another nightmare that might come true. i'm trying to avoid going back to the
old me, so i'm staying away from people right now. but if something else bad
happens, it's back to step one for me. that's why i need a little advice, that's
all.
I think more people have dreams come true more than you or anyone else realizes,
but are only partially correct. First let me explain my positition: I tend to
have this problem alot where I dream something -sometimes it feels so real I'm
confused when I wake up- but after I have the dream sometime in the future an
event happens that is frighteningly similar to what I saw awhile back, but
pieces of it are a little off or different. Also, ever since I was little
(before kindergarten, even) I've had nightmares that weren't just scary, they
could be very gruesome, and back then I hadn't seen anything that could have
influenced such like movies. So while I don't claim to understand you
completely, I can grasp the idea of bad dreams

This may not be helpful to you (especially if you are upset, which is totally
understandable considering what you've been through ) But
I really believe that in the end dreams are really just dreams. Sometimes
something like them happens, sometimes they don't, and both of the events you
described are despite their emotional impact pretty generic in the end.

After having said all of that in the paragraph above this, blaming yourself is
pointless because there was no way of you knowing that what you dreamed would
(sort of) take place in reality. Having a few dreams that have a similar event
happen in your life doesn't make you a prophet that "knows all and sees
all". It's okay to be concerned or upset when you have a terrible dream
like that, but please, please, PLEASE don't start thinking that everything you
see at night is going to come true. When you start down that road it will make
you paranoid and seclude you from the people that matter to you and care about
you...
Also, I know this is going to sound funny after everything I've told you, but
the best advice I can give is be careful with advice people give you... It's
good that you were able to bring yourself to ask for it, but it's also very hard
to give advice, and those that give it freely and without much thought put into
it can have bad results sometimes. That's just alil personal experience I
thought I'd share
I agree with ArtificialRaindrop, you should not blame yourself for what happened
under any circumstances. You had hundreds of dreams over the last four weeks.
Even if the future did manifest itself through dreams (I am not saying it does)
how can you tell which particular dream is to become true and which one isn't.
Besides, even if you could tell which one is the one that will come true, if it
has been foretold then that is the way that it will be, and there is nothing you
can do about it (there are countless stories, in manga, anime and otherwise,
about the futility of fighting your own destiny). Some doctrines even mantain
that fighting your destiny is the shortest path to fulfilling it.
Why not try a different solution. If your dreams are having power over you, then
try to control your dreams. People who believe in the power of dreams have
devised countless artifacts to deal with them. Native-American indians created
Dreamcatchers in
order to filter out their evil dreams. Mexican alebrijes represent the
nightmares of the creator of the alebrije and they are supposed to protect you
from your own nightmares.
Why don't you get a dreamcatcher or alebrije, or even more fun, why don't you
make your own?
Well, I watched an episode of Mushishi, about how the guy had a dream, and the
mushi that infected him made the things that happen in the dream come true. But
in your case, you're depressed. I've seen it many times, even in myself, that
when people are depressed they think they have some sort of power or purpose or
psycholigical disease, but they have none of them. They are all just
coincedences, and as unlikely as they seem, everyone faces strange coincedences
like that, or atleast I do.
I remember reading something, using a guy getting a new car as an example. He
got a new car because he thought it would be kinda awesome and people would
think he would be cool with it. But as soon as he got the car, he realised that
lots of other people already had the same car, in which before he got it he
never noticed. Its got something to do with the brain and stuff, but in any
case, they are just coincedences, and you should get that through your head.
yeah, i know there's no way i could've known if one of those dreams could come
to life, so now i'm thinking of them as coincedences-if it happens, it happens.
if it doesn't, then it doesn't. but after those two came to life, i was getting
a little...paranoid. after that happened, i was going right back to negative me
again, but that was because i was thinking about how it could happen to someone
else. and of course, i'm upset for what happened, but you could understand why i
was worried like that.
