Hello, this is the my second attempt ever, EVER to make an image using a
computer. I kinda jokingly submitted my first work and it got deleted within
hours ^^; ( I didn't know it would happen...)
The wallpaper is a bit violent, featrueing King of Fighters, where Leona and
Iori are going into Blood Riot. When I first saw the scan from a Chinese site, I
just felt compelled to do something with it =) I'm currently trying
(experimenting is perhaps a better word) to put a purple flame of some size on
Iori ( the guy on the right)'s left hand, and some blueish-green energy around
Leona, much like those around Goku in Dragon Ball when he goes super saiyan, but
with more detail than a mere outline...just to make the left side of the wall
more...occupied and the whole wall more colorful. Hope to get some advices and
some help from you guys, thanx =)
One thing that will need changing is the quality and extraction of the scans.
The scans look somewhat grainy and the spiky haired guy's hair looks like it was
extracted with the magic wand or a chunky eraser. Same with the other fellow. I
guess, you could google up the "pen tool". Or you can check out my
tutorial here (provided you are using Photoshop) http://theunderappreciated.minitokyo.net/
<-- scroll down the page to tutorials.
The render> clouds background with some manipulation also fits under the
filtered category. I guess it looks too "generated" because we all
recognise that filter. You can download brushes off the net to enhance the red
or the fieryness. You can even use the smudge tool and see if you can paint some
flames. Painting, by the way can also help out with the background -- this
is what you've sort of begun to do at the front- that wispy layer of yellow :P
Oh yeah!
Lastly with that chinese character "kill", :P, I think if you choose
to use it, just use it once. If you choose to use it more than once, carefully
place it, not so much randomised. Think of
the chinese word as also a character you have to feature. It may be secondary,
but you will have to choose whether or not you want to place it in the middle as
the main focal point, or as a backdrop.
BTW, the scan you have found is of pretty bad quality. Someone has enlarged the
image, and then turned down the quality of the image, resulting in artefacts.
Apart from good extraction, you will probably need to clean the scan (grab the
tutorial from IManimetions- under Mt's affiliates) paint over it, smudge it
carefully or vector it.
Thanx a lot for you help! Really appreciate it =)
lol, my first wallpaper was horrible now that I look back ^^;
Anywayz, I've taken your advice and added some...detail to the background. And
since I really don't trust in my painting skills (never taken any art in my life
;), I
didn't really do anything big. The two fellows still looked out of place, though
I just can't figure out why or what can I do to improve it.
I've also taken out the "Kill" for now as I'm still not sure what to
do with it.
So here it is, hope to get more help and suggestions =)
Currently working on figuring out how to improve the characters and what to do
with the "Kill" = = I'm making a bigger, more stylized version of
"Kill" to put in the center, to see if it would look gooder...I mean
better...

Well there are a few reasons why this was deleted (taking bits and pieces from the policy: http://support.minitokyo.net/policy/)
