Is sickness the punishment of the gods or God? I don't really know. Maybe. I mean, it could be. But right now, I'm not even sure if God exists. I mean, I believe in him, but at the same time I have doubts. So if sickness is the punishment of Gods...then why would good peopel get sick? Why are bad peopel running all over the place? I don't think sickness is God's punishment becasue good people get sick all the time. Maybe God causes sicknesses to teach lessons, but I don't think sickness is a punishment.
Someone have said"when I have some times nearly to die ,I saw
the god..." Why does he/her always see the God in a such bad situration?
The answers are various, may be match your opinion...
Everyone's body is their responsibility
If someone is injured or sick, it's because they were careless/irresponsible
You can't blame genetic inheritence or God for being sick
No whe are part of the planet and the nature and like the season around us change
so we ours body change and adapt to the sorrunds the sickenss is more like away to fix or assimilate changes by example chicken pops once you have them the 1st time you would not past for that experience again (with the exepcions of some unlocky souls that is)
Sickness is generally caused by an invading body, whether biological or artificial, and will cause a deficiency or dysfunction of the body . This can be anything from a harmful bacteria, a virus, a bullet or simply the effects of age. I don't mean to be offensive but your comment is very far from the truth. Being hit by a car on the sidewalk is an injury, getting food poisoning from a takeaway store is sickness, you can not blame these things on carelessness. Even more astounding is saying you can't blame inheritance. There is a whole field of genetically inherited diseases and disorders!
The majority of sicknesses have a medical (scientific) diagnosis that explains how they have occurred. To say sickness is a punishment of the gods, in my opinion, would suggest a highly pre-determined existence. The nature of sickness and disease, also being mostly curable, would suggest to me that god has nothing to do with it. If he does then he is a very very cruel god and definitely not the one in my bible.
What kind of sickness? Mental sickness or sickness as in diseases? I think that mental sicknes is caused by the people around you and by the environment. For me, diseases exist to balance the population of the world. When Adam and Eve were the only people in the world, there were no diseases. After the world got populated, diseases started sprouting. Now, all kinds of sickness are present.
So for me, yes. Its somewhat a punishment of the gods.
I agree wholeheartedly with littlejonny100. Sickness affects both good and bad people. If there were some disease that would only affect murderers and would not infect anyone else that may be evidence for disease as God's punishment. Otherwise it would take a very long stretch of the imagination to say that disease is caused by the wrath of the gods.
Pandora's Box. period.
but i agree with littlejonny100 too. the world must be balanced - if it werent - it wouldnt be proper...
disease isnt fair. but i regard it as a curse from the gods. its punishment to man for disrupting the natural tranquility of our environment
So you believe in God. Then you are well aware that Adam and Eve, the first man and woman used to be perfect and have no disease and problems of any sort. But only when they defied God by eating the forbidden fruit and by listening to Satan that they indeed became imperfect and started to have problems.
And as they produced babies, generations after generations, sin and imperfection is passed down to their children, us.
Here is a quote from the Bible: (Genesis 3:17-19)
"And to Adam He said: âBecause you listened to your wifeâs voice and took to eating from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, âYou must not eat from it,â cursed is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life. And thorns and thistles it will grow for you, and you must eat the vegetation of the field. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.â "
So it simply then says in the verse since they have sinned against God he and his wife will no longer have the same treatment they recieved in the Garden of Eden. God said,"For dust you are and dust you will return."
This mean they will eventually die because they are not perfect anymore. Referring back sickness...it is imerfection and thus some leads to death.
(if you have further questions PM me)
YES AND NO BECAUSE IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PUISHMENT GOD WANTS YOU TO HAVE YOU CANT DECIDE THAT
Ah I read a good passage in "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown about this. God cares about all, he is all powerful. Both are true, but if he cares, why doesnt he stop disease and such? If you had a child, would you protect it night and day so it wouldnt fall or get hurt? Or would you let it go out and experience life?
well it went something like that.
But i dont believe in god(s), so id say disease is just mico-organisms trying to live, with a negative effect on humans. Everything can be cured theorectically, so it woulndt be divine punishment.
getting ill definetely NOT the punishment of any god: I don't think that any gods exist, so getting ill is for me a biological matter :/
God's Punishment! Nope! I don't think so!
i dont know bout this
i've read in the Bibble, that if we do bad things, He'll angry n give u a punishment which is suitable fo' us.
but the other verse says that- i dun really remember- He gives us all punishments it's not alwayz bcoz u did bad things. i mean, Jesus never do wrong things, but people in the past r so mean to Him, by ignored Him or betrayed Him. it doesnt mean that He's bad so God give Him punishments, rite?
Sickness is just a person like everyone else. Leave him alone! It's not his fault he kills people...............................
Do most people who believe in God believe in Satan/The Devil? You could always blame it on him.
A gift from Satan.
Genesis 2:16-17
16. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest therof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:17
17. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for duest thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return
Just to reinfoce part of what eclipsegurl012 said, God made man perfect, He made man in His own image:
Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: (note this is only part of v26)
But God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But it was also man's responsibility to tell woman not to eat. Adam told Eve, but not the entire truth of what God commanded:
Genesis 3:3 - But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die
Unfortunately the touching of the fruit was not part of God's commandment, so Adam failed to tell his wife the total truth of God's commandment... but thats beside the point.
After they had broken God's commandment in eating of the fruit, God said that the ground is no cursed, man will have to work for food and man will ultimately DIE.
So in conclusion, God made everything perfect, including man, until they were tempted into eating of the forbidden fruit, and then because everything perfect began to fall apart, and everything in the world became imperfect. How that happened God didn't tell us, but it is not for us to question God's motives either.
But God had plans for the redemption of man - Jesus Christ - but that is in for another topic
Well if God invented everything else it would make sense that he invented sickness as well. That is, if you believe in the existence of God/gods. But is it punishment? That, I do not know. I've seen people who are perfectly lovely and kindly getting sick as well, and they sure don't deserve to be sick. So I share the same sentiments as the OP.
Good person who had cancer and died early...
Bad person who suffer no sickness...
That should sums up my idea...
Sickness in anyway cannot be considered a punishment lest it occurred on such an instance where the the person inflicted believes that it is such.
On a scientific note, illnesses mostly come from living organisms such as bacteria and cancer cells with the exemption of viruses which can also be considered non-living. Because they are living, they cannot be considered as punishment. Like us they evolve thus other illnesses sprout out.
I think diseases probaly came with the Fall of Man in the Bible.
disease are caused by bacteria or viruses that interupt your bodies natural functions. Some bacteria have even evolved to where they only live on certain animals because they survive well that way. Viruses have always interfered, because if they couldnt, they would die out. no, diseases are not caused by gods.
Well, God's not at fault. It's bad hygiene and bad lifestyle that get people sick.
God, not gods, there r no such things.
n sickness isnt the punishment of God.
I've often wondered for awhile but for me I've learned that sickness is not the punishment of the greater beings but more along the lines of man's punishment to one another...the greater beings have better ways to punish us than making us sick...that's my opinion
