Ive got a queston for you. dont those 3 quotes come from the bible?
I don not get the first one
I don not get the scond one either
I know this one it comes directly from the bible but I dont think that is
necissarily right on adults and kids well technecholy it is right cause god said
that but you know its not right to smoke but people still do it when parents say
to clean up you rroom do you do it most people dont and i also think it meens to
obey your parents well who really knows
sounds like socrates to me.
- all three points can be traced to his work directly, these are just modern
paraphrases.
He believed people strive for complete happiness in life (why else live?)
Using that he (perhaps optimistically) believed that doing the 'right' thing, or
leading a righteous life- would make the person happy, and thus fulfilling the
goal. Thats why he believed people who knew what was right would act right
because it would make them happy.
And this true insight of what is happiness, comes from within. Different
theories go around on that #2, from the soul as a consious being, to the Idea we
all know on a higher plane of consiousness, telling us how to act.
As for 'Wisest is she who knows she does not know...' it was firstly a He:P
Socrates said when comparing himself to other scolars of the time: I must be the
wisest of all of Athens, because everyone thinks they know something, and only I
know I know nothing.
This is probably related to the way he interrogated people's knowledge on
subjects exposing that they really dont know fundamental facts. Introducing
'critical thinking'.
theres lots more on this subject it's really interesting so get
reading!
Heh, I wasn't being completely serious..I like reading a nice quote just as much
as the next person.
But seriously, just think a little about the second one. It isn't hard to gain
wisdom by examining your own life. Just look at the decisions you've made that
had bad results, and try not to make those types of decisions again. Vice versa
for the decisions with good results.
She is wise only because she is well aware of the fact the she's clueless on the
matter. She doesn't go on blabbering about the problem, going all silly. She
accepts the truth, that she doesn't know and shuts up. It makes her wise: being
able to acknowledge that she doesn't know, she defeats her pride and accepts the
fact.
True insight comes from
within...
Our insight is based on our feelings. Whether it's the insight to catch a
falling object or the insight to jump in front of a car to save your loved one.
For many, insight is something foolish, a desperate act, made while you're in a
tight situation. But then your feelings rush towards the surface and only then
you're able to acknowledge their existence. The insight itself cannot be true or
faked and while we're relying on it with our heart, it always comes from
within.
He who knows what is right will do
right.
This one's easy. But it doesn't happen that often. Sometimes you think it's
right and you do it, but the outcome is bad. Being 100% sure that it's right is
the hardest thing, after you're positive you're doing the right thing, you'll be
happy with the result.
Ok. I'm going to write three quotes. What do they mean? Explain them. Do you agree with them?
Wisest is she who knows she does not know...

1 - If you do not know something admit to it because if you try to act like you do know it you just look like an idiot.
2 - trust the combination of you mind and heart when making decisions.
3 - Basically means that if you know the right thing to do then do it.
As far as agreeing with them they are fairly accurate
1. is saying if you don't know something then admit it.
2. listen to your heart and mind they know best.
3. says that if you have been taught what is right then you should do what is right!
-Think before every word you say but don't say every word you think.
[tenses?]
-If your heart says it's right, then it's right.
And I loved this one the most....'Be Happy.'
^^
the first quite is a sign of arrogance if you think you know so much it makes you arrogant but believe there is more to learn makes you wise.

How about #2: True insight comes from within.
This quote means we shouldn't be reading quotes like this, and instead examine your own life in order to achieve wisdom. =P
Where else should True insight come from anyways?:P
how do you gain wisdom by examining your own life? And what difference does it make?
Good quotes are meant to be shared^^
