Just listened to the new Linkin Park album - Minutes to Midnight.
Personally, I have been eagerly waiting for this album. Upon reading about what
this new album was about, what i found interesting was that they said this would
have a very different sound from previous albums. The numetal and rock/rap sound
would be virtually non-existent But
isnt that what Linkin Park is?
Anyway, i still anxiously listened to the new tracks one after another.
Woah....
At the first listen through I was like hmm...o_0. What they said was TRUE...It
is very DIFFERENT than their previous albums...and not at all what i
expected.
With that done...i had a second listen through...listening to what they had, and
not what i thought they would have. This time i was more appreciative and
accepting of what they've done.
As of now, "What ive done" is my personal favorite on the album, with
notable mentions to songs:
3. Leave out all the rest
5. Shadow of the Day
7. Hands held High
11. In Pieces
Remember - Its a very, very melodic album. Very stripped down to basics and not
at all as heavy as what you would have come to expect. it will probably divide
Linkin Parks fanbase to those willing to adapt or accept the bands experimenting
on different grounds, with those who just wanted more of what they
were.
i found it very nice, a welcome change for Linkin Park
I used to listen to them quite a lot a few years ago; a good fan of both Hybrid
Theory and Meteora, and always enjoyed their rap/rock hybrid, even though some
lyrics were too emotive some of the music was just simplistic genius, if you
know what i mean.
As for M2M, i found it very, very. very good.
Especially ... oh wait, i'd name the entire album.
Hands Held High and Shadow of the Day are simply incredible, both of them.
Valentine's Day suprised me completely, very listenable and the interlude in the
middle is quite nice.
Bleed It Out is just awesome, will have it in my head for days.
No More Sorrow tops the 'heavier' brand of the new songs, nice message,
In Between is an interesting listen, i wonder what was behind writing that
song,
and In Pieces and Little Things That Give You Away; brilliant end to an album, i
never thought i'd hear a ska style guitar in an LP song.
all in all, it gets a 10/10 from me, for simply being unique. For LP fans, this
album is remarkably less 'heavy', and very powerful on its vocals, which for me
is just fine.
However, don't be surprised if some people completely abandon LP for this kind
of stuff. But then again, they can just sit in a room blasting Crawling all they
like, i won't really care.
I'm listening to the album right now and honestly I was excited to hear that
they were coming out with a new one. After hearing a few of these songs though
I'm not all that excited anymore.
I originally started liking the band because of their styling at that time it
was something I hadn't really heard before and I liked it. Listening to this
album I just feel they've become just another band. To me they just sound like
alot of these bands out there. I mean the vocals in the songs remain somewhat
the same but what they did to the background music just makes me hate them.
It doesn't bother me so much that they changed their styling it's the fact that
they just changed their whole styling completly. I was hoping they would have
atleast made 2 or 3 songs like their old styling, but can't make everyone happy
I guess.
So far the only song I kinda like on the cd is bleed it out. I haven't abandoned
LP and probably never will but for now after listening to this cd I'm just not
going to be able to look at LP the same way. Im just going to wait and see where
they go with their music from this point.
Oh and jsut so you don't think so I'm not one of those LP fans that's crying in
his room blasting Numb or Crawling clutching is cd's saying why. I'm not, I'm
just in shock right now as to how much they've changed. After this post I'm not
going to say anymore on LP and what they've done to their music. I'm just not
going to buy this cd and wait and see what they come out with next. Simple as
that
haha i have a torrent copy, not to mention they've released it where i live
already. They did the same for Tool's last album, recieved the cd's and put them
on the shelves without checking release dates.
Otherwise, never mentioned crying while blasting crawling haha, just that if
you'd rather listen to the old LP, keep doing so. Im doing so right now as well,
but then im going to listen to M2M, personally i like it quite a lot.
And i forgot to mention, what about Chester's 18 second scream in the bridge for
Given Up? i got shivers from that one.
Well since you mentioned there was a torrent of it, I found it and gave it a
listen. Gotta say I'm not that thrilled with it. I listened to it a couple times
after I initially got it. Now a day later, I really don't care for it at all.
What made Linkin Park, Linkin Park is now pretty much gone. Pretty sad, I think
they are gonna lose a lot of fans. I mean, they've pretty much abandoned what
they were.
First thing that struck me off the bat was, they are swearing in their new cd?!
Thats something they've never done before, I always thought it was something
that they strove to avoid it in previous records. Now it seems they are just
trying to do what other bands do.
Guess I'm gonna go be one of those blasting Crawling in my room after I dye my
hair black, paint my nails and start cutting myself xDD hahaha. Of course I'm
kidding, mostly hehe.
Truth be told I wasn\'t all that impressed. On their other albums I have liked
virtually every song, but on my first listen for Minutes to Midnight, I can
positively say at this point i only like 2. (What I\'ve Done, Hands Held High).
Perhaps a second listen will change things... but I\'m not too optimistic. Like
Spy, I\'m not giving up on them, but most likely I will not be investing in the
CD.
Quote by boojitsuI pre-ordered it
through best buy...
should come probably the 16th !

I feel for ya man, hope you can return it haha j/k I hope you like it.
Listening back now to their earlier cd's, Hybrid Theory I think was obviously
the peak of their game. I can't say that there isn't one single song on that
album that doesn't rock. Moving on the Meteora (skipping Reanimation since it's
mostly remixes, good remixes hehe but not new stuff), Meteora starts out where
the left Hybrid Theory, but right after
Numb it takes a distincly different sound to it. It should have been apparent
where their sound was heading to by the time this new CD came out.
Maybe we can hope for some good remixes of the new album, by Mr. Hahn and Mike
Shinoda.
Second, the CD is quite enjoyable, I've found. Picked it up the other day, and
am happy with what I heard. I like how they've gone back to almost a basic sound
for some songs, especially track 4 (don't have the packaging in front of me, so
I don't remember the name). Recommend buy for fans who like everything they've
done so far, because they're doing something else, and it sounds great (in my
opinion).
I hvn't heard the whole thing. But I have heard a couple of songs from it. They
were all really good. I'm getting it the next time I get the money. ^_^
Alright, alright...after listening to it for weeks now...I must admit I do find
it rather good now. Haha, just took some adjusting, but I like the sound and the
new songs.
well i've listen to the whole album and well, i seem to only like 2 of there
songs
Bleed It Out
What I've Done.
when i first heard bleed it out, i started laughing, because i couldn't help it
with all the clapping and stuff, tho i rather like their last albums then this
one
"Minutes To Midnight" sounds NOTHING like their own albums. And in my
case, that's a BAD thing. The only songs I like are "Given Up", and
"Leave Out All The Rest".

i might buy it, but then again, the fact that itsnt like their old stuff, or despite the fact that the album cover is really stupid looking.
Curious as to how you listened to the entire cd as it's not out yet.

Well at the moment we got 1 happy fan and 3 um...not so happy fans.
Oh well, maybe in time their new style will grow on us, or maybe not.

i still like the old ones...numb and in the end
Cant wait to get my copy tomorrow, hopefully the songs are as good as all of their previous works, even if it is different
I want to get a copy. My friend waited and waited for this album to come out, but sadly he passed away Friday night...
First, very sorry for your loss LeAnnaLove.

i think its ok but their last albums were soooooo muuuch better.
I like the song What I've Done. I don't have the album but I listened to some of the songs on youtube.
I heard only what song, "What I've Done" I'm plaining on buying it but it sounds like people are saying its not as good as the old stuff. oh well.
Alright, alright...after listening to it for weeks now...I must admit I do find it rather good now. Haha, just took some adjusting, but I like the sound and the new songs.
