I supose most of you do like any kind of clasicall music, but I'd like to know something more specific. Periods, musicians, tendences, interpreters, etc...

Hell yes. =]
I like baroque. Like Bach (who could be greater than him?) and Vivaldi. (<3 mandolin orchestra renditions of his stuff)

And romantic.
Brahms, Mendelssohn, Chopin, some Schubert. Debussy. Liszt.
What I've heard of Bartok is cool too.

Of course Beethoven. (even though he's classical, and I generally don't like that period much)

I also like Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte, but I haven't heard enough of his work to know how much I like him. But since he's Debussy's successor I probably will like him.

I also like Gregorian chants. Palestrina is yummy. And I've been meaning to listen to Paganini, but never really did.

In general, I guess I like stuff that's slightly dreamy or overly epic sounding.

I LOVE classical music, its actually one of my favorite types of music!

I'm a music education major. I'm constantly studying classical music history. Did you have any specific questions?

Lets see, I Love

1.Bach
2.Vivaldi
3.Schubert
4.Beethoven
5.Gershwin

Specific pieces...

Pachelbel's Canon
The Four Seasons
Air
The Ode to Joy( Beethoven's 9th)
Rhapsody in Blue.

Classical music, ah what can i say about it? It's the music where i can just sit back and relax to. Hell i can even pull out a book and start reading to it. I can't say i have any favorites since i just turn on the radio and just listen to classical music. Just a bunch of symphonies and whatnot.

Can't say anything about specific periods also, but maybe i should go investigate that O.o

Ballet overtures are great like Tchaikovky's Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Mozart opera is amazing. My all time favorite composer is Mendelssohn. Check him out.

No, I mean, "I'd like to know something more speific" about what you like.
In fact, I'm studying Clasiall music at University (to be a composer).
I like a lor of composers:
- Stravinsky
- Alban Berg
- Shönberg ("Pierrot Lunaire", first of all)
- Arvo Part
- Debussy
- Josquin desPrez
- Franck
- Ligeti
- a lot more, besides those everyone knows (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert)

I can't really say I'm too familiar with classical music, but there's a lot of beautiful works out there. I can't really namedrop a whole lot, since I haven't really been into it for very long.

My personal preferences tends to lean towards quieter pieces, though, like Gymnopedie by Erik Satie. Anything with piano or violins, even down to pieces with just one of each, can be just as gorgeous as anything played with a full orchestra, especially if it's played so softly you can barely hear it. And if anyone has any suggestions for more, I'd be much obliged.

Of course, if it has an etnic bent to it, that's very nice too, but I guess that's more folk music than classical, which means this thread is hardly the place for it. ^^;;

i just like classic songs from EVA

Absolutely, my favourite song would either have to be "Ode to Joy" obviously by Beethoven or "Marche Slave" By Tchaikovsky.

Hey Atys~ That's so awesome that you're studying to compose. I'm so terrible at composition. xP I always got Cs. It seems like you're a fan of contemporaries. x) I love Stravinsky and Debussy. Pierrot Lunaire kinda scared me though. :X Oh well... different tastes... i'm just a typical romanticist. hehe. When you compose don't forget the violins eh?

Love classical music. I thanked my dad for this.
I've studied about it at school and my knowledge about it is so and so, but every now and then i like to read about the music periods on the internet.

My 3 all time favorites are Chopin,Beethoven and Mozart.

love classical music!not all, sure, but my favourite are:mozart, chopin and debussy...but i LOVE tchiaikovski (is it right?) xD

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is my ringtone, it's a dark and beautiful melody. :)

My favorite I think would be Dvorak's New World Symphony. Can't decide whether I like the 2nd or 4th movement more though.

BEETHOVEN AND MOZART!

y'know, for some reason I actually don't like Mozart. Some of his stuff, but in general not really.

Whom do I like to listen to ?

Okay, it would be Dvorak's music.
Tchaikovky's music such as "Sleeping Beauty", especially at X-mas time.
Choral music, especially from the 12 to the 16th Century Europe. (medieval, especially :-) ! )

Fave tunes: "The Moldave", "The Blue Danube", and Beethoven's Moonlight sonata. Has a dark mood, yes, but it's soo melodic and when listening to the music of a Blue Moon, so mystical !

I dislike Mozart as well. I forgot too mention that i like Dvorák.

Hrm, yeah, I like Brahm's choral pieces, but in general I'm not familiar with them.

My favorites are Mozart and Dvorzak. I really enjoy their music but I also like some of the more modern "classical" music (John Williams, etc...) as well.

I like Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Beethoven, theres some others as well. I also like some of the modern classical too.

i love classical music :)
i play the viola so its kinda given that you have to like classical music to play it :)
