hello.
i downloaded this scan but there was something i didn't like about it
("white stuff" to be exact), so i edited it and removed this
"white stuff", i'd say it looks much better.
so i was wondering if you can upload edited scans to the gallery or not. if you
can, what category should it go in? because technically it's not a
"scan" anymore.
i read the FAQ and policy and did a quick search on forums but i didn't find
anything related.
An edited scan (or cleaned scan) is still considered a scan and should be
uploaded there accordingly. If you've cleaned the scan significantly then there
may be an allowance to upload the scan as self-scanned, however I'll let a scan
mod answer that more accurately.
Edited scans are to be submitted as scans.
Never mark a scan as "Self Scanned" unless you yourself put the
printed material on the scanner bed yourself, regardless of how much editing you
did to the original.
LJ & Marissa have pretty much addressed everythin in the submitting
part.
I'm concerned about your definition of "white stuff". If all you have
done is cleaned out a little dust then it will be considered as a duplicate
scan.
There have been a lot of scans recently that were claiming to be cleaned up
versions of previous scans. All they had done was removed a fold across the
centre of a poster, or a tiny amount of text. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH TO BE CLASSED
AS A CLEAN UP.
Minor editting like cleaning dust marks & slight creases is to be expected
with many scans, and is NOT considered to be significant enough to replace the
original scan.
HOWEVER, if you have cleaned out vast amounts of text that obscured the majority
of the image (although there shouldn't really be any scans of that bad quality
on MiniTokyo) then that WOULD be considered a better replacement.
i think you missunderstood me, i'll try again.
you should see the scan so you will understand what i meant: RZ15 by XelNaga-Tribe
i removed the white stuff that nobody seems to know about.
i think the word "edit" fits more to what i did. i didn't
"clean" it, i "edited" it (though "clean" is to
edit too).
and i was wondering if i can upload this "new (or different) version"
of the scan to the gallery. it's the same thing, just without the "white
stuff" on the dress.
i hope to get answers again.
