Wow... just had a conversation with my friend on AIM on why people drink... and
I gave some reasons. DUI isn't just about the person drinking or taking drugs
but also those that are in the car and anyone in the vicinity of the
person.
Anyways, you can't say no one knows when to stop, there are still some people
that still know their limit, but many people binge drinking tend to do it for
"fun" and then they may know their limit but most of the time they're
morons... Anyways, it's good that you bid the man farewell even though you don't
know him.
There are some by the way, that were told, that were warned, that were lectured,
that fell into clinical depression or other sort of issues and such thing can
result in binge drinking or other type of things like eating disorder and such.
Tastes bad? It tastes pretty good to me (except for beer which I don't drink
unless a friend of mine brews up some home brewed Dutch Apple Beer).
Like it was said in teh first post, you are responsible for your own decisions,
you cannot blame peer pressure, or anything else. It always comes down to YOU
making a choice.
Thats the problem with too many people today. They all want to blame their
problems on someone else which is complete and total horses#$%.
If you are going to drink do it responsibly or be prepared to pay the price (up
to and including you life or if you are really unlucky someone elses life) for
being stupid.
Thats sad, but i don't see where the underage drinking was mentioned, I almost
thought this was a bashing underage drinking thread so i'd gotten into war mood
lol, anyways like mnemeth said you (well not about the beer part ) are
responsible for your own decisions. Simply put know your limit, and have enough
of self-esteem to say no, i mean dang if people can convince you to endanger
your life over something as little as drinking thats just sad.
one word from me "STUPID and FOOLISH"; maybe this might hear rather
anti social but this it what i feel "may this be a lesson for other and
also it's better that it end than rather it continued to ruin more lifes of
others".
last month someone from my church and her son was driving, and this drunk driver
hit their car. her son survived, but herself wasn't so lucky. everyone at my
church was shocked, and her son is still in the hospital. my brother, and other
adults come and visits him, but he must have felt sad that his mom is no longer
in our world.
drunk ppl just doesn't hurt themselves, but others. the lady was really nice,
and some ASSHOLE was actually STUPID enough to drive after drinking! drinking is
still a growing problem.
Oh well, that's because they don't teach people responsibility. For us, we all
know that DUI is dangerous, there is always one who doesn't drink per car and
it's easy to check as even for "unsupervised" parties there is a
volunteer who keeps the keys of the people who shouldn't drink, and if they're
drunk and no one in the car can drive (because they're drunk), well, everyone
sleeps in the car and only leave in the morning after a second alcohol test.
The people that shouldn't be drinking are the ones that go out purposefully with
the intent of getting completely wasted. Drinking with friends can be fun and
having a slight buzz after a long day can be nice but you have to know your
limits and respect them. Everyone at some point in time in their lives is going
to be stupid and drink way to much. But that is where you have to learn from
your mistake and know that next time you stop at 4 instead of 8. I have been
there, I have been foolish, and been so sick I thought I was going to die. I
almost did. The thing I hate the most about people drinking is when they drive
because they are not only putting themselves at risk but innocent people as
well. I saw a car accident the one time that was so horrible it still makes me
sick thinking about it. And it was caused by a teenage girl driving drunk. The
mother of three children, that were in the car with her, died.
I don't want to be preachy because then no one listens. It is not just young
people that drink and drive. Full grown mature adults do it too. They think they
can still drive even though they have drank too much. They don't realize that
their reaction time has been drastically reduced.
Please be careful and use good judgement.
You know, the only publicized things about under aged drinking results in death
(or some other depressing result). Have you ever thought about all those other
untold stories that don't result in someone's death? There are probably much
more of those than the ones you read/hear about.
I'm not saying that under aged drinking is a
good thing, it's just that I'm getting a little bored of all these things
telling people (mainly teens) not to drink.
Sure, drinking before you're old enough is illegal, but saying you haven't had a
sip or two before becoming an adult is bullsh.t. The only ones that end up dead
are just a bunch of dumb a..es with horrible friends.
And yes I know you're not saying not to drink, but I kinda had to let that out.
I hope this former acquaintance of yours rests in peace.
of the past now.

Yes, peer pressure and sense of secruity(belonging) can make one do such cruel things to others and themselves.
We shouldn't drink at all if possible
There is much more bad from drinking than good.........
Alcohol tastes bad anyway....... why do people drink it?
