The overbearing theme of industrialism versus nature in Nausicaa is always
heart-wrenching for me as I think about the current state of the relationship
between humans and the natural world. Humans in our world are also driven by the
same hierarchical dualism that seperates them from and places them above, or
incontrol, of nature. Its such a painful thing to slowly watch greed and
ignorance eat the world away.
Another wonderful anime theme that strikes me is the human verus divine elements
that emerge from Fullmetal Alchemist, Berserk, Record of Lodoss War, Chrono
Cross, and a few others that deal with aspects of fate or breaking free from any
concept of fate as well as the aspects of human existence and emotions put into
contrast with faith of an overall powerful being(s).
