Well im past the half way point of watching Samurai Champloo and i have to
say....man this show is addicting. I keep wanting more! First of all I have to
say Shinichiro Watanabe (director of bebop) has done really well in merging hip
hop with samurais. For those who havent seen it, you might think
"wtf", but im telling you it goes well. The overall theme of the show
is about samurais, but the music he uses has a hip hop theme. Second, the
animation is TIGHT! the action scenes are sooo fluid! Its so cool how one of
the characters (mugen) uses break dancing with his sword techniques. And
finally the story....its well paced and its highly entertaining and you just
want more (not too convincing but hey bear with me).
I cant WAIT for the Geneon release in Janurary! Long live the champloo
(whatever that means). So whos addicted?
not me, i find the show bland and a sad attempt at making something overly
styled. the whole samurais meet hiphop doesnt reallt work in my eyes. its just
style over substance. then again im comparing this to bebop which in simple
words is, a masterpiece. a brilliant blend of many genres: western / spaghetti
western, various exploitation genres, noir, crime thiller, comedy, etc.. and
addition to this it has some of thr most captivating sub storys and plot.
champloo as i see it has none of this.
I am also addicted to Champloo. When I first watched the intro of the first
episode I was very skeptical. But the characters and style and excellent action
more than made up for the hip-hop infuence. As the story and characters are
developed throughout the series, I find myself liking them more and more. Fuu is
a really cute and silly character with many unexpected skills, which makes me
want to know more about her. And Jin and Mugen are also very complex characters
with a lot of style. They are very similair in some aspects, such as their sword
skills and tough-guy demeanors. But yet they are very different in their
motivations and fighting styles. Simply put, it's a great anime that deserves a
chance to show viewers the depth of the story and characters.
looks to me like cowboy bebop replica, only set in japan with characters like ed
and ein missing. there are some awesome cinematography scenese in this anime
series that makes me fall in love with. my favorite scene is from episode 11,
when jin saves a woman from being bounded into a whore...the last 5 minute of
that episode was so amazingly awesome...the soundtrack, the deep message, it
just makes you fall in love with it.
its also got those subtle random comedy that cowboy bebop presents...especially
when mugen has to deliever a man's head before sundown...it was hilarious when
he was fighting when he was high
bad news... i heard rumor around that champloo ends at ep17. And i saw the raw
for ep17 was titled: samurai_champloo_17_end.raw! Oh man, i wish it ends in at
least ep26. Its juz too fast....
Though it ain't a masterpiece, I'm very relieved to see a samurai series that is
good (at least). I've been dying for a good samurai series. I'm sticking with
#Ani-Kraze who are taking their time but I don't mind except the fact i'm only
up to ep7.

Hmm i hope not. Geneon licensed it during its productoin so i dont think its
possible it will end so early, since they prob gave the studio money. It would
make them lose money from the lack of DVD releases. On anidb.net it says there
are 26 but for now only 17 have been released so far. Lets hope there is an ep
18
Im also addicted too. but i don't know why. maybe is because it's unique, or
maybe it's the hiphop+samurai thing or maybe something else. but what that i
know that i am addicted. that's all
Champloo is cool but Samurai 7 is better. Hip Hop is'nt exactly my flavour
anyway, more into rock but i feel that the creator was able to mix the 2 ideas
quite well to create a sort of comedic approach to the whole seriousness that
exists behind Samurai. Fight scenes are some of the most entertaining i see. An
enjoyable show it is but not something i'de rave about for to long.
i really enjoy watching the first episode for the way action is narrated, even
if the story is not really original, i like the characters of Jin & Mugen (i
have a weakness for men's friendship^^) and their fights. the music is totally
anachronic but it suits the better to the action. i hope the 17 episode is not
the last because i like this anime !!!

i heard the '2nd season' will start showing in japan january next year. i've
downloaded till ep 17 but i wont watch it yet until i got every ep.
Yes this is series is very stylized(even bordering on overkill at times) this
series is still very addicting, I have seen up to 16, and what can I say, this
series has been viewed by me so far maybe 4 times all the way through? The more
you watch the more the series pulls you in.
I love samurai champloo. I stopped watching after the 10th episode because I'm
going to wait for them to come out on DVD. The series is great and it's gonna
be a big hit! !! Well it is a big hit! lol

You can actually watch up to 17. The episode does not leave you hanging in
terms of the story, but only in terms of character developement like "who
is the sunflower samurai, etc". But yea, i guess its best to watch all of
it in one run huh?
One month away from the US DVD release. I cant wait to see the video quality!
I heard that the tv station that was originally airing champloo was objected
that the anime shows explicit violence, thus champloo was stopped, and will be
aired by different tv station. Oh and I'm addicted. I've been waiting for the
continuation

I found that it started off good (I meant as in episode wise.. not the boring starting song)
I've seen up to episode 9 and the story hasn't really moved at all so I'm finding it kinda dull now..

I've seen the first episodes, and for the moment, I *am* addicted, and as goggles said, at last, we have a good Samurai Series ^^
Yeah, I've seen the first couple of episodes and it looks pretty sweet. I'll reserve total judgement until after I see the rest, though.
I'm addicted to Fuuchan :P
Im also addicted too. but i don't know why. maybe is because it's unique, or maybe it's the hiphop+samurai thing or maybe something else. but what that i know that i am addicted. that's all

I saw the first episode but I could not get addicted to it.
Addicted here ^^ , a very funny serie, can't wait for the "second" season...
i heard the '2nd season' will start showing in japan january next year. i've downloaded till ep 17 but i wont watch it yet until i got every ep.

Same Here, sometimes you cant help it. Sometimes an anime just captures you and this is a great example. There should be more animes like this one.
i can't say that im addicted, as i've been to other series, but it's very good...
I love samurai champloo. I stopped watching after the 10th episode because I'm going to wait for them to come out on DVD. The series is great and it's gonna be a big hit!

i love samurai champloo so much. Mugen is the best character by far, has what i think are unique qualities for an anime character.
