I read anime reviews that I'm interested in or thinking of buying - at least I
can get a grip on what the anime is about and what the general consesus is on it
before I spend a lot of money on something I've never seen.
I would have to say that reviews aren't too interesting to read
After all, it's personal criticism and although that every comment made in a
review is valid to a certain extent, it's subjective criticism based on one's
preference
And since it is not a debate, I usually don't find the reason to read it
But it's not bad to read other's thoughts on certain animes.....
It depends... if I have not watch any anime that I plan to watch, then I would
like to read a few reviews to get some ideas about it. Some reviews really
critize a lot on the anime but it is good because you would know whether it is
really worth your time to watch it or not.
Yes I read anime reviews whenever I have time. I find them nice and informative
no matter how, sometimes, they are written negatively. It brings out good and
weak points of an anime or a game. As a result broadening your point of view.
Aside that I love the additional information it gives, especially about animes
that I've not watched.
I've actually grown to hate it. I've found that the ones I dislike the most are
the 9.8+ and the -4 because they are pretty much always overflowing with
personal biases and aren't helpful at all at getting an idea of what the anime
is really like. Every single one of the 3 and under rated reviews I've read have
been terrible (even if I agree about the number it recieved!) because they are
quite frankly nothing but negative rants that refuse to acknowledge the good
that is in the series. The people who respond positively in their posts to the
negative review (you know... the ones who say things like "I totally agree
with you!") are almost always worse than the reviewer. People seriously
need to stop using the reviews for rants and go to the forums... like me ;D
So the only good reviews are the ones that rate the show between five and seven?
Or is there some strange occurence/curse/whatever that somehow makes all very
positive or negative reviews bad somehow. Yeah, you better now think too
strongly about something.
Oh, and bias? In a review? Nooo, surely not. I mean, a review containing actual
opinions? Why... that's unheard of. '_'
yeah i do the ones i like most are the lower scored ones coz the piece is very funny to read

In a way I do. Sometimes it's helpful for me such that it helps me decide if I should watch or get that anime or not.

I do like to read reviews, but I would like even more to read stories. Does anyone know if there are books based on Anime and also in English?
