Certain amount of time in a thread

May I ask, is there a rule that said one has a specific amount of time in a thread? What I mean is I have created a thread and it is silent lately and I wondered if I need to turn off that thread and open a new topic. Will minitokyo delete thread which is dormant for a long time?

Another question is by what action one does when one revives an old thread? I don't quite understand what is an "old" thread. If I give my comment to a person who posted a picture long time ago or who had a long-time topic, is it considered as reviving old thread?

There is a limit
You should not post on a thread that has been inactive for 4weeks or more
If you want to keep discussing the same topic, I guess you can make a thread of your own with the same topic
But I don't think the mods go around deleting every single out of date threads since there are so many
But I think you can answer a thread that has been inactive for more than 4 weeks if that thread is not a thread that cannot be duplicated by somebody else (Like asking for the anime of certain scans or how to improve a wallpaper and stuff)

Quote: From the Policy
You must post all new forum threads in the appropriate forum section. You must make a reasonable effort to search the forums for existing threads on the same topic you wish to discuss. In cases where the existing thread have not had a new posting in over 4 weeks, you may open a new thread on the same topic. In most cases, you may not revive a thread which had not received posts in a substantial amount of time unless you have information that is of significant value to the discussion.

Minitokyo won't delete threads in case you're wondering. Threads that is inactive for over 4 weeks will only be closed if people bump into it. You may also report your threads if you want it to be closed with valid reasons.
As stated in the Policy, you may not bump/revive old threads(over 4 weeks old).

Correction DO NOT ask a mod to close a thread for you we do not do that unless it's under an extreme circumstance. If for example you just don't want a thread open anymore that does not constitute a reason for closure. However if you asked a question and it has been answered then yes we will close upon request either through PM or by way of report. If you for example have a few trouble makers in a thread then notify us. We won't close the thread if it isn't necessary but we will handle the situation as necessary.

OK. Thanks for replying my questions. But I'm still a little confused though. "Sign", Minitokyo rules are too confusing for me.

Well just to break it down question by question.
1) Old threads are usually defined as threads that have not received any sort of new post in over 4 weeks. If you post in a thread that is around 4-7 weeks old we won't necessarily close it unless what you post really doesn't fuel any discussion as is say a general statement. Threads without new posts in over 7 weeks will be closed no questions asked. If you created a thread that ends up without any sort of new post in over 4-7 weeks you may post or "bump" it. So long as you actually have something to add to the conversation going on.

2) The only thing that is ever deleted off of MT are posts, gallery items, and groups. So please don't ask for us to delete a thread. Just try to be careful when making it.

3) Pretty much see what I said for 1. However I will add that if you do revive quite a few I'll say 10 old topics then a mod will say something to you and possibly give you a warning depending on the severity of the reviving going on.

Hope that helps, if not feel free to PM me any questions you have.

OK. Now I understand. Thanks very much for explaining.

It's four weeks now. ^^' Ok, sorry on my coming back to the forum I have posted in few old threads though they were only in the first or second page of the forums... Some forums are quite inactive so remaking threads that are already in the first page is pointless I think... but I will be more careful about that.

hi, srry, but I'm new to minitokyo. Can you tell me how to post forums?

Go to forum, click on the section you like to have your topic. Before you post your topic, make a search first. "Search" is under "Options" on the left side. If there's no similar topic, you can click on "New thread" to create your own.
I hope it will help you. I'm not an expert in using minitokyo though.
