I guess tengen toppa gurren lagann. the flashyest, spiritfull, best animated
fighting scenes I've seen till today. if I had to pick one, it would be the
conflict with viral.
Dragon Ball Z - Goku vs Freza, even if they weren`t actually fighting, it was in
the middle of the fight, when Goku transforms into his Super Saiyan form, it was
like the most exciting moment ever in the history of the Earth xD
Kenshin: I find fight scenes of Kenshin really cool, like the one with Saito,
Soujirou Setta, Master Hiko and even Chou..
Full Metal Alchemist: I like the fight between Ed and Roy Mustang, lol it was
funny..
I'm one who favors the more realistic side of combat. To that end, there are
three that really stand out for me:
Starship Operators:
With two exceptions, this is nothing but proper space combat. I can't give a
specific scene since they're all good here, but this was the first one I saw
that had such realistic space battles based on genuine physics. I have yet to
see it matched.
Tactical Roar:
Though the rest of the series was only so-so, and there were some issues with
helicopters and submarines that I didn't agree with, this is still, by far, the
most accurate depiction of modern naval warfare I have ever seen, non-anime
included. The opening fight did an excellent job of drawing me to this fact,
covering many forgotten aspects such as line-of-sight.
Macross Zero:
Though it got rather wierd in the end, the opening scene with the Tomcats is
probably the best aerial fight sequence I've seen. A pure adrenaline rush from
start to finish - the only problem being how fast it's over, but that's accurate
too.
Other honorable mentions include Area 88 (more Top-Gun style dogfights), and the
Seikai Trilogy (again, more believable space combat)
I'm going to agree with MontyJG up there on Starship Operators. I loved it for
the space combat alone. Real space physics and actual tactics in a space battle
rather than the usual anime thing of "line up on either side and take turns
to slug each other" style of fighting. Reminded me quite a lot of a more
primitive version of the Honor Harrington battles.
The other one I liked was Yukikaze, again a nicely realistic portrayal (in some
respects) of air-combat. The detail on the plane models was exceptional as well.
Every control surface moved when it should and there was a definite lack of that
"plane on one side of the screen and suddenly on the other" thing
happening.
As a side note: Gunparade March may not have had the best fights, but it sure
had possibly the coolest way of launching mechs ever.
From the animes I have seen,I think I should say Naruto vs Sasuke is for now a
legendary fight in Naruto anime,however is coming more lengendary ones from
Naruto like is happen now Jinchuuriki vs Orochimaru in Naruto Shippuuden,but
Naruto in the Kyuubi 4 tails(he looks like a kyuubi in miniature),sorry if I
said spoilers but she asked so I have to answer.
the battle in the doujo in rurouni kenshin between kenshin and saitoh hajime
before the kyoto arc. the music, colour and animation sequence was amazing.
the best battles i have seen have been in shakugan no shana second. they seem to
have the scale right as well as the amount of destruction the attacks cause,
unlike the first season. its awesome
One of the bests battles i have watched is from Final Fantasy 7: Advent
Children. The fight between Cloud and Sephrioth. THAT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME. Also
the fight between Tifa and Loz was pretty cool too. THe action for both these
scenes were just really cool! hehehe
I'm gonna go old school here...In Yu Yu Hakusho, any of the fights from the
final round in the Dark Tournament, especially Kurama vs. Karasu...The animation
was excellent during that fight, and it really had an unexpected outcome.

For the sake of this thread please state why you think the anime you state has the best combat scene/etc.
FF7:AC - all fighting sequence there, physics defying fight but mouth falling action.

Goku Vs. Vegeta at SSJ2 in the Majin Buu saga, that was the best fight scene ever in DragonBall Z. Vegeta is the best ever, Goku is 2nd best.

Tengen Tappa Gurren Lagann has had some of the best animated fight scenes i've seen as of yet.
Goku vs. Broly in movie no. 8, because Broly was so freaking huge. It was kinda lame how the fight ended though.
Eternal Sailor Moon vs Galaxia. The BGM is good.
