I really like this guy i work with named Keenan. we have known each other for
about a year. i really like him but the thing is that he has a baby and my mom
dont want me to have that kind of stress on me but i dont care. my mom stating
"its not because he is a different race than you it is because he is a
father and that should be the major thing in his life right now." but he
likes me 2 i just dont how much. should i try or make mom happy and leave him
alone?
Your mother is probably telling you this because she probably doesn't want you
getting involved with his personal life. He has a kid after all.. But since you
like him so much, I'm guessing the mother left him with the child? How

Everyone deserves to be with someone even if they have a child with someone
else. I don't see why it would be a problem. But you have to realize that you
are taking on not just this guy but you will have to be a good female role model
to his child. I am not saying that you will have to be their mom, but you have
to remember that they might to start to look at you that way and are you ready
for that. Is this guy still involved with the mother of the child? If he is then
you should stay clear till everything is completely over with him.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy but at the same time be smart.

I don't think race/baby should even matter, love should be what matters, if you
are under age then you sort of have to do what mom suggests but if you are over
the age of 18 then you can listen to your mom's advice and then make your own
mistakes in life, parents are there to shield us from making mistakes, for in
truth this could be your best or worst mistake in your life, only you have the
choice to make that judgement
youre only 17 and you said you wanna be free, reason enough isnt it.
Take your time and you'll find another nice guy, maybe even a better one, at a
better moment anyway.

Uh, just my opinion but, the child is a key factor in this.
1 Question, is the mom still with him?
If she isn't, then if you REALLY want o go through with this, there are a couple
of things you should keep in mind:
1: Are you prepared for the likelihood of parental responsibilities?
2: Does the father REALLY care about you as much as you believe, check twice as
hard, just in case.
3:Are you financially pepared;job, career, education, stuff like that.
Oh, and a moms primary duty in life besides supporting a family is to help their
child/dren grow up very well and be prepared to face the future challenges that
await the child/dren.
I'm saying this because that's why your momma said those words to you.
Oh and if your not ready yet, just be patient.
If it doesn't work out with him, there are plenty of other fish in the sea, if
you get my drift.
Be patient, you've got a whole life ahead of you.
Enjoy it as much as possible before you finally decide to settle down and raise
a family of your own.

you can handle that kind of responsability then by all means, comtinue on.
If both of you like each other, and you already have the preparation to accept
the gossiping of others and willing to treat that child as your own, why not?
Although i believe your mom will be angry at first but as time go pass, she will
finally still accept this as you are her daughter!i have a friend whose mother
remarry another guy and they are still happily living together! You have to let
your mom knw your decision and your determination to face any difficulty
