Hey there! I don't know how you see it,but for me is just the sound of a badn
important to like them, not how they look or what happened in there past...
But people think different so I will ask you this question:Do you like a band
because of the sound?
And well I think it is okay when people say they like a band because of how they
looks too...but what is most important? sound or how they life/look or there
past?
For me, I like a song because of the music, the lyrics, and the meaning. The
people who sing it have never affected which songs I like or don't like. I think
if you like a song because the of the band's looks or their history, then it's
not really the music you like/dislike, it's the band.
Songs that have the instruments and sounds blending together well I like, I am
not really a fan of any band, but if they make a good song I will keep it.
Although even if a song is good, if it isn't stuff I like listening to I wont
add it to me list of goods.
Hrm, well, good sound is good music, right? Sound is most important for me.
Second is performance. I like bands with great live performance. (Unless it's
electronic music)
Good looks can help the performance, and and interesting past can add to the
meaning of the lyrics or melody, but if a band is good, it's good. (Like Duke
Ellington said. xD)
Partly Yes and No.
Yes, because it stimulates / motivates me, thus improving my sense of
well-being.
No, because music isn't all sound, it must have meaning attached to it.
I mostly listen to music and enjoy its soothing melody.
Sometimes I follow the words but mostly its the rythm that catches my ears.
That's why as long the sound is good, I'll listen to anything.
"No, because music isn't all sound, it must have meaning attached to
it."
I completely disagree with this. Whether or not a song has meaning or
intelligent lyrics is completely irrelevant to whether it's good or not. A song
can be absolutely kickass without lyrics, good lyrics, or even intelligible
lyrics (I certainly can't understand Japanese lyrics). Even if we were talking
about films, theme or significance should not be something taken into
consideration when (objectively) judging a film.

I'm not talking about lyrics.
Consider Bach's Toccata & Fugue.
It doesn't have any lyrics, but it's worth a thousand words.
I guess I'll have to say yes. If the music is played from a band that has nice
sound be it tone, pitch, rhythm, beat and etc, then yeah i'd like them
regardless to the lyrics. I'm like that with some metal bands where they have
amazing 'sound' playing from their performance, i don't listen for the lyrics
until I've enjoyed it. That's just my 2cents. =P
Well, yeah. I like music for the sound of it first and the lyrics second. I
don't care what the band or artist has done as long as the music sounds good. I
mean, I like Michael Jackson's music, but I think he's a bit touched in the
head. (a bit? a lot...)
i defnetly liek music for the sound, when you hear somthing that catches your
ear..you liek it..lyrics are a plus, sing along enjoy it a lil more..but
appearance doesnt make a diffrence..but a live show, they must put on a
performance!
The sound is what makes music so enjoyable.
The singers, lyrics and stuff like that: as long as it's good I'll try to
remember it.
But it's the music, the rythm and the beat that really get me.
I have never liked music based souly on the fact of who brought it out, band
wise, but more along the voice, words to the song and how it's sung...and it
does depend on what mood I'm in regardless if I'm even going to like it then,
but like it at a later date
If you want to listen to music, then you should close your eyes and listen to
it. No other sense (other than hearing) should modify your opinion about what
you listen to.
If you choose the music you listen to with your eyes, ehm then yes, music lost
its meaning. Then it is becomes something else, call it acting, show performance
etc.
Unfortunately that's why today's music is completely crap (at least in
majority). Many people watch instead of listening. (also the commercialization
from big labels made it even worse)
In my case I stretch it even more. I completely differentiate music from poetry
(lyrics) so I tend to listen mostly instrumental/orchestral music. I don't like
poetry so much, so I stick to my most beloved art.
im a fan of songs with unintelligable lyrics such as kokia's oto. and like
xaviergr, i also tend to listen to instrumental music and soundtracks. then
theres also the classics that have no lyrics to them at all. so its the sound is
what makes good music.

Ive never had that problem. Bands that i dont like their music, i tend to not their looks either.

i love music just as it is.

Not only sound, but the lyrics as well. I don't quite understand the meaning of sound.. do you mean Rythm? Beat? Melody? D; if yes, then of course!
yes, as I don't listen to music with words some must.
si es el mejor logro de la humanidad

Heck yes! Music is the best kind of sound out there, it can move you even if you don't always know why
well yes, i enjoy it very much because without the music, there'd be no sound and just random yelling and screaming..har har
