I have to admit, the American anime industry had me scared for quite a bit. With
the way it's been lately, I only expected the Narutos, Death Notes and Bleaches
to ever be licensed again. Today Nozomi Entertainment gave me hope that niche
titles still have a shot at coming to America with the licensing of Maria-sama
ga Miteru. Hell, I might even buy Victorian Romance Emma just to give them some
more money. If you didn't know, now you know... and if you did then shout it
from the rooftops. Amen.
I put in the preorder for all three seasons within 15 minutes of the license
announcement. (I would have ordered them earlier, but I had a site to update.
^^;; ) I sincerely hope the show does well enough for all three box sets to get
a release. (This would depend on sales for each season, I guess.)
Now, listen up! You -- the discerning audience -- have the chance to put your
money where your mouth is by picking up a stellar show in nicely priced box sets
and encourage Nozomi/Rightstuf to take the chance on other niche titles later
on. If you don't like shows like this, then you are of course not obligated to
support it -- that goes without saying -- but anyone who comes on to this thread
bitching about how "expensive" it is and the fansubs are better
translated anyway and blah blah licensors suck and so forth will receive words
from me. And those will not be nice words.

Either you're not really looking or where you shop is pitiful and I mourn your
suffering... a world of long and over-hyped anything is saddening (I actually
sort of like Bleach, but I admit it gets tiring). Just because that's the kind
of stuff we see on tv doesn't mean that it is reflected in the stores o_o
Granted the selection did suddenly drop a bit when Geneon/Pioneer/Densetsu
decided to drop and run... Grrr....
Actually, I'm not really that thrilled that the series has been licensed myself,
but good for those of you who do like the series. o_o

I would complain about the prices but I buy the series regardless, and they
aren't really that unreasonable. I'm just broke Has
anyone noticed that a lot of times when people complain that "fansubs are
better" they aren't really that different from how it's translated?
I didn't mean I only expected shows like that to be licensed, but with the way
the American industry is suffering, I figured niche shows like this had a long
shot chance at best. Companies just cant take the risks they used to and I'm
just happy that a few are. To me Nozomi has become like the Atlus of anime.
Atlus brings over obscure Japanese titles and take that kind of risk, and I'll
be forever thankful to them... much like I am to Nozomi now.

That is very true. It's nice to have companies that are willing to sort through
things whether or not they are popular and bring out the shows that aren't quite
so well known. Some of the best gems get overlooked because of the fear of it
not selling well
