Ok. i did a search and it turned up with nothing, so if there is a thread like this in existence someone just point me to it. Anyway...

For those of you reading this, what are some of your favorite soundtracks from games? And i'd like to avoid mentioning the FF soundtracks, because those really get enough mention as it is. So if any of you do, what video game soundtracks do you tend to listen to?

First off for me is always Daisuke Ishiwatari's Guilty Gear soundtracks. They have a very well done rock style to them. Lots of guitar, bass, drums, and some synth on the side. Just my style. The songs are really memorable as well.

Recently though i started listening to the Chaos Legion OST. It's really frigging awesome imho. It has a definite electronic sound to it, but there's a real heavy gothic tone to it (as i'm guessing is the style of the game) with excellent latin/gothic ish vocals. I just love the very sound to it. Very well done. :-)

but enough about me. ^_^ Your thoughts? your choices in vgm?

ummmm i don't really listen to many games soundtracks. and i'm not allowed to say FF huh, well um i guess Xenogears. though its more of an instrament soundtrack. but i do like it :)

Yeah. Xenogears had some really killer music. Yasunori Mitsuda (the composer of Xenogears / the Chrono games) does killer music in general. :-P Have you listened to Creid? It's an arranged Xenogears album. Really good stuff.

Ok. i guess we can mention FF music in here. :-P I just didn't want to get flooded by everyone mentioning FF music.

heheh ok b/c i love FF music and no i haven't heared Creid. and u say its good too. i think i going to have to run to the store and see if i can find it hehe now i have a reason to go to the mall :D

the Halo soundtrack is probably my favorite VG ost, i also listen to resident evil orchestral ost and deus es 1 and 2 osts and the metal gear solid 2 ost.

i love chrono cross soundtrack...very high quality ^_^ although you said no ff, i still have to mention it XD and halo gets my vote too :)

FF rawks.. Nobuo himself rawks.. but again, I liked Xenosaga Episode II's movie OST. Yoko Shimoura's works are great as well.(Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, etc.)

Megaman X5
Metal Gear Solid 1/2
Suikoden II

The Megaman X5 has got to be my favourite along with Suikoden II which has one of the best battle themes in a game (Gothic Neclord).

Megaman X? ( I don't remember what serie it was ... But it's the one that Moskito Milk sings Monkey )
Kingdom Hearts ( Utada Hikaru musics are good =) )

i personally like the xenogears soundtrack (it has alot of reflective music in there) and the kingdom hearts soundtrack and final fantasy tactics soundtrack rocks

Erm, necroposting, but I didn't think it'll be good to start an entirely new thread for this.
I liked the BGM for Private Nurse, 13 of the 14 BGM tracks are very soothing and relaxing to listen to. A lot of them being piano pieces.

Xenogeras, Xenogears, Xenogears!! Oh, and I like the Guilty Gear XX# Reload soundtrack too - Pillars of the Underworld is so good!

Yeah. I really loved Pillars myself. Although Vortex Infinitum was a pretty rad remix of it. =)

Heya,

I have to admit Mistuda really does rock. Chrono Trigger to Xenosaga, he is very gifted composer, IMO. I think his best work is still Xenogears. It's truly impressive, along with Creid. Espically "Bonds See and Fire." Truly brilliant.

I don't know composers names, but here is some of the cooler old stuff games back from snes, and I know one was mentioned. =D In real order.

1)_ Kiki Kaikai 3 (Pocky and Rocky 2)
2) Kiki Kakai (Pocky and Rocky)
3) Mega Man X (Stage Seleted ruled)
4) Tales of Phantasia
5) Ganbare Goemon (Legend of the Mystical Ninja)
6) Lennus (Paladins Quest)
7) Ogre Battle
8) Lufia ii
9) Guardian Legen
10) The Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past
11) The Wheel of Time (MMO)

That's all I can think of for now. =)

Alistair

I think that King of fighters has a cool soundtrack, its not so famous, but it should be.
Tekken as well, isn't so well known for its music. Although its slightly repetitive, that shouldn't stop you loving it!

warcraft (2 and 3), classical war music. it's a good escape from the everyday "noise". :\
