What's the difference between fate and destiny? This has been bothering me for a
few days now and I can't figure out what the difference is. I've had people TRY
to explain it to me but I still don't get it. Someone please attempt to explain
it. Thanks for ur time ^__^ (i know im retarded)
fate-
n.
1. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events.
2. The inevitable events predestined by this force.
3. A final result or consequence; an outcome.
4. Unfavorable destiny; doom.
destiny-
n.
1. The inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is
destined; one's lot.
2. A predetermined course of events considered as something beyond human power
or control.
3. The power or agency thought to predetermine events
They're pretty much synonyms of one another, but there is a slight difference.
Actually, to answer your question.... there really no difference between the
two. But if you want to go into more detail, fate is the..... - how would you
say - inevitable procession of events... while fate is the "power"
that is supposedly able to determine the outcome of events or it can also be the
actual final outcome.
No you're not a retard. Don't say that. You're better than that. Okie..About
your question. Hmm...Let me see how I can put it. I'm not to good to explain it
in terms but I try by best. Fate and Destiny is almost alike I guess. Fate: It's
a plan that you must face. Destiny: You were born to destine to do something.
Sometimes people says you can't change your fate od destiny. I dunno if it's
true but I believe it's how strong you believe in. I dunno if I'm making any
sense. I feel like an idiot for not explaining it too well. I'm really sorrie I
wasn't much a help. tt_tt And don't worry about PM'n me if you need something.
K? Don't be afraid to ask. ^^ Okie I better go now. Talk w/ ya later. I hope you
can find your answers of what you are looking for. Again...Sorrie I wasn't much
a help. -___-

O.o Damn.....Your amazing! Here I am posting basically the same thing....and
boom @_@.
Anyways depends....Theres definations and life experiences. Though the
definations can and usually do apply to life.....I personally believe you can
make your own fate...As destiny can be similar.....bleh I can really get into it
about it...but it ends up contradicting itself sometimes.... =/. Though I
believe strongly in both Fate and Destiny. Even though through-out the events
of my life I questioned it and still do, I don't doubt it. I still have faith
and of course, I figured I'd quote T2 "There is no fate but what you
make".
do you want to know, maiden? ...i'm gonna tell you yeah?
it is here were we take use of Occam's Razor.... the simplest answer is always
the correct one.
and it's the irony with life to give us the answers we seek on a silverplate,
yet we keep searchin' for the answer... hahaha
here's a good definition, even though destiny and fate doesn't quite fit me....
hehe...
- An event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future
- Your overall circumstances or condition in life (including everything that
happens to you)
taken from a thesaurus defining both fate and destiny. So as Occam would say....
different words, same meaning.
Yes, indeed, it is probably very hard to distinguish these two terms, because
their meaings often seem to overlap or be considered interchangeable.
Most importantly, what do they mean to YOU? That would be the best answer
to your question, since everyone has a slightly different "take" on
life....XD
1. an event (or course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future
2. the ultimate agency that predetermines the course of events (often
personified as a woman); "we are helpless in the face of Destiny"
3. your overall circumstances or condition in life (including everything that
happens to you); "whatever my fortune may be"; "deserved a better
fate"; "has a happy lot"; "the luck of the Irish";
"a victim of circumstances"; "success that was her portion"
4. decree or designate beforehand; "She was destined to become a great
pianist"
Destiny:
1. an event (or course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future
2. the ultimate agency that predetermines the course of events (often
personified as a woman); "we are helpless in the face of Destiny"
3. your overall circumstances or condition in life (including everything that
happens to you); "whatever my fortune may be"; "deserved a better
fate"; "has a happy lot"; "the luck of the Irish";
"a victim of circumstances"; "success that was her portion"

Circumstance? People would think destiny and fate are the same, but I believe we
chose are destiny...though whatever happens is our fate (afterward). Cause fate
is something that has already occur and destiny is something you can change in
time. And "yes" every thing does happens for a reason cause we bought
it up that way. It was our choice to do what has come before us. The
circumstance can wary with death as our main
adversary.
nu-hun, dont say your retard, i have problem to catch on that theory too. I made
theory of my own most of the time cause i dont find any sense in what others
will say, but i like talking about that stuff with diffrent people anyways.
Well... the only thing a can think about these two is that its unfaire, i hate
it when people say to me that my life already been decided, we should be given
chance to lead our life by ourselves. Fate and destiny are both our birth and
death who where decided mischievously, like others events we cant escape, each
of us is given a different story whos for the creator to watch and test us out.
Thats what my mind is set on about these, were puppets.
