I came to anime just after some great series ended: evangelion, love hina,
chobits, .hack, noir and some more.
I took a risk and downloaded chobits dvdrip only to find it was unfortunately
dubbed. I have Gunslinger Girl as well. Any you wish were still in the
wild?
I bet that Naruto is [one of the] next.
Then again, we are getting the chance to see the classics in the making.
i most regret burn up scramble. the series were all awsome .. then adv licenced
it immediately .. meaning no one dared to sub it .. and hence not one really
knows about it .. the art was pretty good.. and with the scramble sereies they
changed it slightly to .. wish i could have seen if subbed
I think its ok to for companies to license anime after the entire serie has
ended but I can't stand those who licensed it while the series is half way
through the season... I still miss half of what happened in Samurai 7...
Once anime gets licensed, then you should be able to buy it relatively soon. I
think samurai champloo comes out in Jaunary on DVD. Must support the industry.
I just hate the lag time between licensing and releasing. I'm still waiting for
the end of Full Metal Alchemist.
Well...I don't really regret, if an anime is licensed. Ir it is good enough,
I'll certanly buy the DVD's. But often the fansubs are much better than the
"proffessional" DVD's. For example: I really like the anime Fruits
Basket. But the DVD's...well....I never saw so ill translated subs.
i dont mind the fact of licensing, but it does suck to see a show dropped when
its halfway (or 3/4 of the way *gumbleSEEDgrumble) done. not that it becomes
impossible to find (unless only 1 group is dong it).
although companies have gotten really fast with releases (i remember when
certain companies had titles for... year(s?) was it?).
ill be shocked if naruto gets licensed, just because the manga is nowhere near
its end. (then again one piece was...)

Out of curiosity, did you watch the right subs? Those DVDs have two sets of
English subs and I've noticed that people will unwittingly end up watching the
subs for the dub version as opposed to the subs that actually go with the
Japanese version.
As for licensing...I don't have a problem with it. I especially don't mind now
as my connection makes it very difficult to download anime like I used to.
However, I hate it when a show is edited down for US release. I want Hikaru no
Go to be licensed so I can buy DVDs...but I'm worried that it will be dumbed
down for a kiddie audience when that happens (like One Piece).

I'm pretty sure, I saw the correct subs. I made the settings in the title menu.
Well...I sold the DVD's again on ebay and kept the fansubs. Normally I would not
do this.
I actually LOVE my Furuba DVDs. I first came to the series when I rented the
first 3 DVDs from the anime store and was like "Hey, what's this? Oh wow...
this looks so cool...!" And then I immediately started falling in love with
the series (episode 5 is my absolute favorite) Actually... I think ALL DVDs
should be modelled after the Furuba DVDs... 6-7 episodes a disc with lots of
little extras! Now that's how a DVD should be!
I regret any anime that is released without the Japanese version *cries* I'd
have boughten YuGiOh on DVD if it had the Japanese version, but noooooo you can
watch it in English, French or Spanish, but NOT Japanese! I also regret DVDs
that are made with nothing other than the Japanese version, with english
subtitles... like Card Captor Sakura... Not only that, but there's only 3 or 4
episodes per DVD and only some character sketches as extras and occasionally a
clean open or ending... If you're going to make a DVD, make it right! If you
aren't going to give us bonus stuff we might as well be watch VHS.
And I'm not sure... Samurai Champloo out in January? *wonders why she saw it
playing in her anime store the other day* Though the clerk had admitted to me it
was the only series he followed fan-subbed... Maybe he's advertising it so
people will buy it when it actually comes out... it was the japanese version
which was odd since they normally show english versions in store.
I freaked out when I learned that Kyou Kara Maou was licensed at episode 13... I
went crazy! seriously! I was so sure that I'd never be able to see the end
before they finally released it! Now I'm still not sure because Episode 23 came
out without a torrent.... But I plan on buying the series anyway... so I guess
I'll just have to wait a long time to see the very end... just like with Fruits
Basket... it was forever before I got to see the final disc because they never
put it out for rent, even when they had it... said that they'd put it out for
rent when it stopped selling so fast... But a friend got it for me for X-mas,
ironically after I borrowed the entire series from her... Now I own all the
DVDs!
But yeah... I don't like anime that doesn't give options and extras... and they
don't give the good extras on kidified anime... you'll never see interviews
with the japanese producers and voice actors on kidified anime... and you won't
get the japanese version either. I like the option to choose, even if I don't
like a dub, to have a dub AND the japanese version. Though I prefer liking
everything about a DVD like I do with Fruits Basket...
what animes do you most regret the licensing of?

Yeah really, all licensed animes should be licensed after the series has ended. kills the mood and ends the anime imo......
