stars are like spices in Chinese Food.... :D essential, but very nice addition to the scenery,... XD rofl

Very quick stone texture:

Choose a light and dark shade of the color you want the stone to be.
Render->Clouds
Click the channel tab next to the layers listing.
Click the button to make a new channel.
Render->Clouds on the channel
Click the layers tab and click the layer you made clouds on.
Render->Lighting Effects
Choose a directional light and angle it how you want.
I forget the name of the dropdown menu, but choose the channel you made using the clouds texture (default is 'alpha1'). This is the key part to the texture!
Tweak the sliders as you see fit. I usually make it more plastic, drop the exposure some, try to give it as little reflection as possible. Lastly, to really bring out the texture, on the bottom slider bar that goes between 'flat' and 'mountainous,' move it way over to the right.
Click okay, and you're stoned.
