character for wallpapers would have to be Belldandy from Ah! My Godess.
Perhaps others could be Aoi Sakuraba from
Ai Yori Aoshi. So much to choose from.

Personally I really like Belldandy from Ah Megami Sama. She has a lot of great looks and different types of looks that make great wallpapers.
