okay Christmas is coming and I wanted to get some anime that I missed before I was a fan. I always wanted to see Love Hina so I looked into the DVD price. The lowest I can find the series is $90.

Could someone tell me- do you think that the series (and 3 movies) is worth this much?
I've never bought anime before, just manga and magazines.

i've seen some of the anime and the spring special, well i like it okay, but i don't think it's worth 90$ ....
i really think the chara lost some personnality in the anime, and the drawing is not very good i think.. still it's funny, and the music/songs are great, but definitely i think some of the spirit of the manga was lost somewhere in the process (plus introducing new chara just to fill in the space....... )

still if i should advise you to buy somethin, i'll recommend the angel sanctuary box, great anime, cheaper, i love it (maybe you already know it? ) well that's a little bit off the subject, hope i've been some help

i've bought the Love Hina Perfect Collection set for $90, but i was already a fan before i got it. Love Hina is one of my top favs and i would recommend it highly. The Christmas special movie would be ideal during the festive season. (Just don't expect the series to be as good as the manga).

Conclusion: i think it would make a good Christmas buy, But if you don't want to part with your $90 so easily (i understand it is a lot of money) you could always download an episode or two to get a taster. Money wise the boxset would always come out a better bargain than getting each volume separately.

I'm hearing a big ol' worth it. So I will think about it and probably buy it so I can watch the first episode or two and the Christmas OVA on the 25th

If I like a series enough I will usually buy the manga afterwards. I don't really dabble in manga before seeing it on video.Usually it's better that way anyway.

if you do go ahead and buy the anime and enjoy it, it'll definitely be worth your while to read the manga. That's what i did, i watched the anime first, loved it then got the whole manga series.

I liked LH a lot, people like to bash it cause its not exactly like the manga, but its still worth a buy. If all else fails you could probably easily download it anyways.

not so easily. I found 3 torrents. right now the fastest will be done in 4 days but since i'm buying it I'm just gonna get my share ratio to 1 and leave it.

there used to be an online anime video network site called "desync" something where you can just watch episodes online for free but i heard the site is down at the moment (too bad)
Anyway the online video wouldn't be as good and there'll be the odd buffering probs as well.

well it is kinda worth it for $90, but if you would spend for it but i perfer bying the manga since it is better then the anime but thats only me

$97 with shipping. It's my one of 4 christmas gifts.

97$ is fine...if you got each seperately, it would cost you around $200...so you're better off buying it.

Of course, I personally would have rather bought just the specials and used the rest of the money to indulge in other luxuries...the series just repeat the manga...in a twisted and not a good way, imo.
