I gotta ask everyone a serious gaming question... Everytime I go to buy a game, I always seem to notice other people buying games with half naked women in them... In one sense, I guess it's alright, but when do you draw the line? I ask my friends why they buy games like bloodrayne , and they're all like "Oh, because she's hot"... Not because it's fun (I never enjoyed the first title) or the gameplay is compelling, because she's "hot"... I want to ask you all is it possible to be sexy and still be fully clothed or close to it? I mean really! A lot of games released today have a close to naked girl on the cover that says "Look at my boobs and butt and buy my game though it'll probably be a waste of your money". That girl from Beyond Good and Evil is really great for these reasons. She is still good looking while still a believable size (bust, waist,etc.) When playing DOA, I always choose Helena because she seems to be the most clothed of the bunch (also, she looks a bit like my ex whom I'm still close friends with). A final example of a girl who is sexy and respectable is Samus Aron(mind the spelling). She's strong, pretty, smart, and doesn't really need to be scantily clad to get the masses to enjoy her games. What is your opinion on the matter?

Human are human and it in the nature to think like that. why do you ask this quetion all people think about sex no one can't. Is it so wrong to think that?

Hmm interesting question but maybe it's just me that a game is more fun when the character is more sexy especially that DOA Beach Volleyball which is hypnotizing me to play it.

People will be people, but sometimes I just wonder if there's another way to get a great game out on the market without making its lead female character as skanky as possible just to make a sale, ya know? It seems demeaning... I mean, I'm all for a little bit of fanservice, but sometimes it can be too much. So what if a girls boobs don't jiggle uncontrollably? It could still be a reasonable game!!! Well your never gonna stop it the scanitly clad chicks in games but most games these days in my opinion dont normally have chicks with barely anything on. I do believe that characters can be sexy without having barely anything on... leaves more to the imagination?? or something i guess . Also this can make the game fun in ways but once u get real enjoyable gameplay nothing compares really.

I wonder how ppl played those game all they do is stare at the charater and daydream about it.Isn't it funny:)

its not really possible for a game to have sexy characters and be fun.The only reason why they put it in there is because they want to steal your money.I only buy games that are good,not for the characters,thats stupid and a waste of money.Overall they will not stop making thme because its human nature to go after that different sex and people will do anything.Its never going to stop unless all games start putting in fully clothed women and gay guys.I asked people why they like some games and they all told me either the game was good or the character was hot.You should never buy a game like that ever,you'll end up going back and buying another because of the girls and people waste a lot of money because of that and it should stop.Overall the only reason they put half naked chicks in them if becuase they want your money,thats it....sry its so long.

In response to this question, I would say this. Being scantily clad can make one more sexy. But there is a line between sexy and just plain slutty, and it would seem that there are more than a few games that cross this line. And as far as making a game fun, I would say definately not. To those who would disagree, I point to BMX XXX. I think that explains it all.

well depends on the game... i remember the first fighting games and there was always a female that looked sexy or a male that looked a little too good; it's the sex appeal that brings in a good amount of players (both guys and girls)

DoA is a big example of that (especially with the additional "jiggle factor"), the girls look good with little or lots of clothes, heck even the guys look good...

although that's not the only reason you play a game, youve heard of people hooked on Kamatari Damacy... looks like the programmers were high on something, but a good game doesnt necesarilly need to have hot looking people to be a smash hit, heck i have fun playing smash brothers melee and mario kart as much as i like to play KoF or Street Fighter

I find that its not always the case, there are games that have scantily clad female characters...and that's about it. As far as sales go though, it'll usually bring in extra bucks since gamers like sex appeal

I wouldn't say that's always the case. Soul Reaver was an amazing game, albeit a brutally violent one, and there were no scantilly clad women in it. However, I won't argue with anyone who says the industry is leaning in that direction now. Unfortunately, some developers will do anything to save a failing project, or to get those who don't play games to buy theirs. I laughed out loud every time I saw the commercial for DOA: XBV

games are decided by gameplay, plot, graphics, and sound mostly. If a game has good gameplay, even without sex appeal, it'll still sell well. Scantily clad women can only be popular in games that already are fun...like Soul Caliber 2 or BloodRayne (which I think is pretty fun).

Girls that are fully clothed can be sexy...like Taki in SC2, Mia in Golden Sun, and Lyn in Fire Emblem.

uh, can you really say Taki is fully clothed when what she wears is basically a spandex bodysuit? I guess you could say so, but the whole camel toe and boobs sticking out makes me question it a bit ^^;

I find it hard to take a game seriously when the women wear next to nothing, at least in terms of plot, etc. But games with great storylines don't tend to rely on half naked women.... I can't take Soul Calibur 2 seriously at all, as has been mentioned with Taki... and Ivy, what's with that costume (and accent)? But fighting games aren't supposed to be taken seriously, so it's all good. Incidentally, Ivy is my character of choice, but not because she has the whole skimpy leather bondage thing going on.

i find that having a bit of both makes the game fun and entertaining, as in the case of the game rumble roses. the game itself is amazing but the fact that the girls look like that is a bit of a plus but on the other hand look at the "guy game" the more questions you get right the more naked the girls get, but the game itself sucks balls. i think that if you can find the happy medium then you can have a good game but the character not always has to be blonde big breasted and gun toating

Well, sexy is a very broad defination as you must remember that its really up to individual taste as to how they define sexy. A girl wearing an evening gown for a ball can be sexy too. It really depends on individual taste and preferences. That said, scantily clad characters in a game is eye candy but eye candy can only go so far, beyond that, it really depends on the game engine to keep the player's attention and interest, however, that will really depend on the type of game you're talking about as some games keep your interest level up by having you unlock clothings etc for your character even though the game play isn't average. *shrugs*

I think that when a game has "scantily clad" women in it, it dosnt make it any better or worse i think. most of the games i can think of, the game is trying to apeal to horny guys or they arnt. although i do play some games that you could consider that but its not the first thing i look for in a game. i guess you could say that it kinda does make the game more entertaining but its all determined by what the game is about.

I don't think it makes the game fun, but much more interesting.

Thats why i buy games like Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Doom 3 where you shoot things ^_^

granted i have played a few Hentai games as well as some of the "Scantily clad" games and they are enjoyable in the aspect that hot women normally attract men. And i have played many of them.

So i guess i am neutral on this discussion. I like to look but not all the time. They are freaking videogames, if i want to look at a girl i'l pick up my girlfriend.

but if you notice, a guy can be in spandex shorts, bandaged hands and a weird necklace and nobody notices he's freaking cut (buff, an adonis, etc)...
now i wonder why we guys dont complain about that? :P
