Maburaho - A walk in the black forest

We all seem to love it <g> ..

Now i wonder how could the light in it be done, anyone got any ideas on that.
on how to make such an effect ?

Was it a stock photo with a added lensFlare <g> , Were the trees re drawn. on top of a "light source layer"
does anyone have some pointers in using light and shades ?

I was wondering how for example you guys (the more advanced wallers) would take on a job like this.

Well maybe kev will have a go at it, if he feels like giving a few hint's

:O If I was adding that I'd probably use brushes with some creative use of radial blur and layer effects... thats my guess.
